Why did it take so long to put Heard on the field ?

So here's a question to ponder......if for some reason Swoopes comes in, do you think he does better in this style offense and under Norvel, or is he done???

I would argue that he would do better under this offense when your progressions are simplified.  I am not sure I like his tendency to hand off when in doubt, but I think the reads and progressions are a lot simpler under Norvel.

I am by no means saying he should start, I definitely think we have found our QB that will carry us over the next 3-4 years, but just wondering what you guys think.

Interesting question. I think he does better than he did due to the simplicity are reduced playbook.  One of his challenges was the inability to quickly push thru progressions and inability to deal with too many options.  That is why he did his best in the hurry up offense with one simple read.

That said, Jerrod Heard has a firm grip on this position and has breathed life into this program.  This is a different team with him at QB and as a team leader.  Unfortunately for Swoopes that excitement/leadership skill is something he just doesn't have no matter the offense

I think Swoopes will struggle in any offense because he lacks confidence.

And, yeah, he's not much of a running threat. I'd rather see Locksley in there if something happens to Heard.

Jay Norvel needs some credit for putting the offense back on track in such a short period of time.

He didn't get spring ball and all summer to work on details, he has had only a few weeks to get this offense working again.

I look forward to watching him work in his new position of calling plays and doing a make over of the offense.
