It would certainly be nice to have him back.

The young man has every right to not play - and though I disagree with his politics I tip my hat for his conviction.

however, I think if he chooses to not play football he should certainly lose his football scholarship which would open up another spot.

He doesn't.  Texas has recruited the Brock's as well as they can.  They've left no stone unturned.  Alabama has Saban, players get rings and linemen go to the pros.  More Than Texas.  Much more.  And there is more that I can't divulge and it doesn't have anything to do with under the table money.  If I talked about what it is I could be open to a lawsuit, so....
However, Texas is still in it, but Bama is a monster.
    Don't give up yet.

This guy needs an offer like 3 weeks ago and should be a take regardless of what the Brockermeyer's do.  Roach already said we'd be in his top schools list even without an offer.  Don't wait and fool around until after the Brocks more than likely pick Bama'.

@83Dee There is something to the UT-Brockemeyer relationship being in the dumps right now. What I don't know is why. I'm hunting it down though.

Albert Regis film is interesting. 6”1-300 and playing h-back in some of his highlights. He could be a headache for guards and center in a 4 down scheme where he can’t be doubled often.

Christ is my savior.  I don't care what color Jesus is, why should anyone else?  Its like building your dream home then deciding to demo it because you don't like the color of the drapes. It just wrong man.  White Supremacy and Racism has been used to excuse bad behavior and radical socialist ideas that its lost its affect.  I am speaking for myself.
The more this kind of stupid crap happens man the more the average American realizes this isn't a race war.  Its war on America itself.  Wipe away its history, the good and bad, and dismantle it from within like a virus.
Let me be very clear I am not talking about actual racist issues.  I am talking about the groups that use racist issues as an excuse to destroy this country.  The wolf in sheeps clothing man.

Dr. Gilbert, I agree with you actually.  But do you understand how the depiction of a "white Jesus" was used to promote white supremacy?  Not asking if you agree but do you understand Shaun King's reasoning?  I personally think any rational human being would know that Jesus in the physical form wasn't white.  I do agree that at the end of the day that as God's son he died for my sins and saved my soul.

For now.  We seem bent on imitating a system that hasn’t worked nearly as well.

Precisely what I meant.  Partisan politics hurt the NFL.

    1) you’re either obtuse to the point that’s been stated repeatedly here or you’re purposefully missing it to Go on your woke tangent.

if this is about our black athletes fearing they are going to be killed by the police - okay, then leave politics out of it.  BLM pushes a Marxist agenda.  And if UT athletics donates money to them - I think it would be a big mistake.

    2) yes, it’s “their right.”   And - I’m sure Texas will be just fine without me as well.  But one thing I’ve noticed - going way back to college, is left wing types seem to be much more activist and vocal about their opinions.  That is neither good nor bad I suppose - but it gives them the idea that everyone agrees with them because conservative types are less vocal.  ESPN learned this the hard way, as did the NFL.    If UT donates money to BLM (political organization) there may be consequences beyond what I do... but I think that you knew what I meant.

    3) the fact that I don’t know what someone has been through does not necessarily mean that they are right and I’m wrong.

And as for your conclusion.....  there we have it - I had to read through a bunch of clap-trap to get to it - but because I disagree with horns up - I’m a racist and mourn for the Confederate flag.   Can you not see your own blatant hypocrisy?   I’m scolded for criticizing actions without “knowing what they’ve been through,” but you judge me because we disagree on politics.  Priceless!

They will say that is different because most them were killed by other black people.  Not sure why that matters.  If BLM wants to do some righteous work then they should protest at gang and drug dealer homes in Chicago.  But you wont see it is my guess.
@83Dee has it right, its a play on words.  If your against the radical ideas of BLM then you are a racist and dont think black lives matter.  The two can be separated.
I do find it kind of humorous how the word WOKE is used because its my opinion they are asleep to the bigger picture.

Thank you. I looked it up. The story is from April 17, not exactly recent but we'll go with it anyway.
    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/panthers-make-christian-mccaffrey-the-highest-paid-rb-in-nfl-history-here-are-the-full-contract-details/
Contracts do not have a "season" although during a NFL season you'll seldom see a contract negotiated due to the distraction. Instead, its the OFF SEASON, like right now, when that gets done. The Cowboys negotiated via "franchise tag" which isn't a negotiation at all really. It had to happen so its not the result of ratings. The franchise tag carries with it a requirement on the salary. So it says nothing, really.
McCaffrey helps your point and its not worth arguing, but it is very much worth being accurate about.
NFL ratings have been rising over the last two years, after taking a very concerning dip in 2016 (election year, Kap's taking a knee). When Kap left the league and left the sidelines, public reaction to it dissipated. It took a serious dive in 2017.
    https://www.boston.com/sports/new-england-patriots/2020/01/04/nfl-tv-ratings-playoffs-patriots
A lot has happened since the season ended in 2019. Goodell has announced the NFL supports taking a knee. So I imagine the issue will take the NFL ratings in the opposite direction again.
The more political sports becomes, the less people will be interested in it. Sports are an escape from the politics of the day – not where you go to get informed on politics. Thats like calling an electrician to take care of a plumbing problem. Just the wrong source altogether.
I don't imagine I would stay in business long if I featured a political landscape installation where I made political stances during the entire installation. Thats because people don't mix their landscaping with politics. Instead, they top of beautiful designs with a college football team flag right in the front.

"Texas should name part of DKR to commemorate Julius Whittier, 1st black letterman in #Texas Football history. Distinguish the section in a way to honorably memorialize him. Put the band in that section & sing the “Eyes of Texas” w/ players/ fans facing the Julius Whittier section "

Thats not what he said. He specifically said Black Lives Matter, not the mere "idea" that black lives matter.
Not sure why or how that became confusing. Maybe it was more useful when taken out of context?
As far as I can tell Black lives don't matter to Black Lives Matter, unless the life is taken by a police officer. The black on black crime, which dominates the black community to a tune of 95%, can't even garner a mention from Black Lives Matter supporters.
How can you take that seriously? You can't even live up to your own name?

I love college football.  I have since the 70s.   In a way it’s an escape from politics, work, etc....
I certainly do not watch it to be lectured about politics - or anything else.  It ceases to be what I enjoy.  They have “the right” to do whatever they want at UT, and I have “the right” to stop donating / spending money on them and watching it on TV.
I have listened to the Ticket in Dallas since the mid-90s.  And it became a bunch of sports guys lecturing me and mocking how I vote.  “Their right” and I turned it off and haven’t really missed it since.  UT athletics is treading on dangerous grounds IMHO.  If I want political lectures I certainly won’t ask a college football player or Chris DelConte for it.  There are better forums for that kind of thing.
