oldhorn2 reacted to primal defense in Steve Sarkisian named head coach at Texas
I want the guy that can best stop or slow down Lincoln Riley whomever that is. I also want Lupoi as co-DC for his recruiting. I've read that he has to have play calling duties and I've also seen that as long as he's a co-DC.

Yeah, someone that the pay sites don't know about. No one brought up Terry Joseph until he was hired and no one reported the Lanning interview till Sexton leaked it. I believe we should hear by tomorrow unless Sark is waiting to see about hiring Pruitt. It could also mean that Pruitt would go back to Alabama and we hire Golding. I'm prepared that it may be a name that hasn't come up. I just hope it's not Mike Stoops.

oh....he may have been offered....I just think the Great Satin told him that he was getting the Bama job as soon as it was politically correct for him to jettison the current guy....

FCB is clueless. He doesn’t know whether he’s taking a shit or winding his watch.

I sure do hope all you guys are right. This thread reads like a wet dream of koolaide binges. I can understand why there is so much bottled excitement or hope in new coaches, staff hirings, signing day, etc. There hasnt been much to be excited with regards to the actual results on the field in a decade. I wont drink the koolaide this time. Sark is going to have to prove it mostly because of the hangover from the last two head coaches

If this all works out it shows me several things.
1. Sark has full control of the program
2. Sark has bastante juice!...These coaches dont just come here for money. They must think something big is happening and UT is the place to be to further their careers....hell the OC and Oline coach from Bama..DC from UGA...Sark is poaching more than a short order cook on free day!
3.we will have an easier road recruiting than the last few years...

Sark was on the Dan Patrick show this morning and he was asked out how difficult it’s going to be to out recruit Nick Saban, his response was, “I hope to still be here 15 years from now and people will be asking how do you out recruit Steve Sarkisian?”

They both run a base 3-3-5. You can line the DE inside, outside, or head up. Personnel wise you better have good LB’s and lock down corners.
I’m a believer in taking away time and space with your defense. I just feel having four 280 lbs cats up front applying pressure causes more problems than 200 lbs DB’s blitzing. Occupy the 5 O -lineman and QB’s get nervous.
I’m sure the 3-3-5 works but it hasn’t for us.

I’d love to see how a 3-3-5 could be aligned differently🤪
I don’t care where they dial up pressure from I want 4 big guys with their hand in the dirt. If that’s how Arnett aligns his 3-3-5 I’ll be fine.

quit making excuses for them would be a good start. I have three separate lines of Cherokee and I dont hold ANYONE today responsible for the Trail of Tears, of which two of my Cherokee lineages were forced to participate. The Irish were treated horrendously as well. Every race and every culture has had slavery and victims of it.
Name ONE player at Texas that isnt at an advantage over 90% of peers in the state of Texas. You may find a couple or three exceptions but for the most part, these players are self-important, entitled, brats screaming for attention (as are players in other programs). I use to tell my soldiers that you will not get rid of racism until you decide to quit making it something that controls your life. (Quit making excuses for them!)
This past weekend, a good friend's son won the national AAU football championship in New Bransfels for their age group (4 teams from Killeen won national championships at different age groups beating out Arkansas, Florida, California and Texas teams). A good percentage of these players are black kids. Is something that happened 150 yrs ago holding them back? NO! But, one thing that can hold them back is if they let some moron talk them into becoming a slave of the past. Regardless of color, these kids are ALREADY approached by trainers to help them get ready for the future. My friend's son has been approached by three trainers (two former UT players) and he is starting specialized individual training in a couple of weeks. Athletes are fawned all over since about age 6 and are not put out in any way regardless of color.

Gentlemen, I am not trying to be political and I have yet to express my personal opinion of this matter, my point is simply that if you want black players you need to be sensitive to the issues/sensitivities that they have. The Head Coach signs on to become a father figure to these young men who in many cases are fatherless so the way that he treats them is integral to their own personal formation as well as to the success of the organization. It doesn't matter what you or I think about the issue what matters is what they think and if they have a legit gripe then their voices ought to be heard. I am black and I support the eyes, but I also sympathize with the players that blackface was/is cruel and degrading. If Sark or admin isn't willing to even seek to understand their perspective, then there won't be black athletes at UT for much longer and you can have your eyes with a heavy side of L's on the field.

I suppose it would depend on how much that particular job meant to you. If the rewards from that job were such that they out weighed your sensitivities, then you would agree to "take it" If you felt you could not in all conscience stay...then of course you leave.

Sark should get who he wants. If it doesnt work out we can howl at the moon and blame hell out of him. If it does work out we can sit around smugly and discuss how smart we are.......win,win!!!
