quit making excuses for them would be a good start.  I have three separate lines of Cherokee and I dont hold ANYONE today responsible for the Trail of Tears, of which two of my Cherokee lineages were forced to participate.  The Irish were treated horrendously as well. Every race and every culture has had slavery and victims of it.
Name ONE player at Texas that isnt at an advantage over 90% of peers in the state of Texas.  You may find a couple or three exceptions but for the most part, these players are self-important, entitled, brats screaming for attention (as are players in other programs).  I use to tell my soldiers that you will not get rid of racism until you decide to quit making it something that controls your life.  (Quit making excuses for them!)
This past weekend, a good friend's son won the national AAU football championship in New Bransfels for their age group (4 teams from Killeen won national championships at different age groups beating out Arkansas, Florida, California and Texas teams).  A good percentage of these players are black kids.  Is something that happened 150 yrs ago holding them back? NO!  But, one thing that can hold them back is if they let some moron talk them into becoming a slave of the past. Regardless of color, these kids are ALREADY approached by trainers to help them get ready for the future. My friend's son has been approached by three trainers (two former UT players) and he is starting specialized individual training in a couple of weeks.  Athletes are fawned all over since about age 6 and are not put out in any way regardless of color.

Or we can say the past is best left in the past.  This 2021, and you have an opportunity rarely given to people.  An opportunity for a free education that will serve you the rest of your life and an opportunity to hone your football skills with a possible opportunity to audition for an NFL team.   If that’s not go enough for you because of a song, then bye.

Let’s move this discussion to the political tread.   Don’t want to high jack this one.

This is not a good analogy. You're implying that racial prejudice resides in the UT Athletic Department. That is the work environment for which, in this case, you're being PAID to perform via free UT education/meals/etc.
Without giving it much thought, you could BLOW your opportunity to gain fame and fortune and put yourself into a position WHERE YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, if you so choose.
    But I digress.
The post you responded to specifically spoke to a personal life. If you experience racial prejudice, why can't you work against it in your personal time? And if you get fired because of what you do on your personal time, you could be fairly wealthy soon after via lawsuit. I mean, they're the ones who would have to make the case, not you.

Or... like the rest of us have to do in our own lives... Do your job and handle personal issues in your personal time.
I'm glad we have a coach that seems to understand that. Maybe everyone else will eventually understand that as well.

    Best quote from the article
“I definitely want to be the play caller. I will be the play caller,” he said. “I made that mistake one year of my career (in 2015 at USC). It won't happen again, not in the near future. But the reality of it is, part of the reason Chris and the people at Texas liked me is because of the job I was doing as a play-caller. All of a sudden, why would I relinquish one of the best traits that I have?

Disclaimer: I have no idea how good a coach Pete Golding is.
But as I've followed all of this stuff over the past week or so, I get the impression that there are not all that many assistant coaches out there that a team's fanbase doesn't hate.
When Bama's defense plays well, it's due to Saban. When it plays bad, that's on Golding. Typical fans, lol.

ok, a pet-peeve of mine is when people start a sentence with "I'm sorry" or "Sorry" when they are not sorry.  It's being disingenuous while trying to sound righteous.

I don’t like the 3-3-5 because the 3 man front is easier to run on. Also creates larger lanes for a mobile QB to scramble.
You have to blitz someone every time to create pressure. Proponents will say they can send multiple blitzes and confuse the offense and this is true....sometimes.

    I coached a 4-2-5 and prefer it.

I just haven’t seen the 3-3-5 run well many places. West Virginia does, Cincinnati does, to name a couple. We did not under Orlando.
No scheme is perfect however. There’s strengths and weaknesses to all.

The Vince Young zone-read was not a spread. it was a run based offense that sometimes had two tight ends.

Something is up. I say this because you normally see a DC in place before other defensive coaching hires are made.

I think if he stays, it would be good for him to work directly under a professional in that position.  I think BC was given way too much latitude
