    Yes, Paul Sunderland and Salima Rockwell helped my anxiety level hearing their seeding assessment last night. I've stepped back from the grassy knoll.

    Someone with a high level understanding of college football needs to be brought in to oversee Texas football and to advise CDC on how to best chart the future direction of UT football. I am not in favor of firing him at this point, but it is clear he can’t be allowed to have complete control of the program. He simply is failing in too many aspects related to the game day performance of the team.
    Tom Herman doesn’t seem to be handling some of the basics well. Effectively, his leadership of the program needs to be put into receivership. He needs to be put on notice of how he is failing, and given the help he needs to correct his weaknesses.
    It doesn’t appear he has mastered the problem of having the team ready to play during the initial stages of any game. The constant problem with penalties shows the team lacks discipline and that Coach Herman is failing to adequately coach the mental aspects of the game. This is especially troublesome considering Herman’s “Mensa” reputation. The defense isn’t being taught basic fundamentals of tackling. The coaching staff has no ability to self-scout. The offensive play calling needs to be addressed.
    The problems are evident. So is the fact that Tom Herman isn’t addressing them effectively. He needs help to see if his weaknesses can be addressed. If not, he has to be let go and we have to move on to new leadership.

    Granted, things don't look pretty in this game, but I'm still willing to give the team a chance to right the ship here in the 4th quarter and pull this thing out.

    I just don’t understand how that was not PI on TCU. The defender was up in CJ’s business through the entire play, impeding his ability to have the opportunity to make the catch.

    I don’t believe there is anything to be gained by joining in with a pitchfork and torch here.  Am I frustrated? Of course. You sit and put out play-by-play for just about every game this season and witness what we witnessed the last month and a half and tell me if you’re frustrated.  There are not many answers that I can provide anyone here that will satisfy what you’re all looking for.  This season is rapidly approaching its end, and it's probably a good thing.
    Unlike Bear, I will say that youth and injuries played a significant part of this second half collapse. Nobody can look at this team with projected lineup in January and by February say the losses to injury (Ham and DJ, and a stretch w/o Kennedy and Peter) were not significant to the way the team played. It affected depth, lineup versatility options and production.  It forced a backup C to be a full-time guy. It took precious offensive production out of the lineup.  It took defensive options and rotation off the table.
    Were there other issues?  I’m sure there were. I’m not going to point fingers, name names or get into a back-and-forth on speculation.  That’s not who I am or what I’m about.  I will say that there will be some turnover on the roster for next year and an influx of some solid young talent. The players you see next season will be very different than this year.
    Bear, I get your frustration.  You’re not alone. Question Pierce as much as you’d like. He is the leader of the team and the responsibility ultimately falls on his shoulders. He’d tell you the same. If he had the answers, he is a straight shooter and would no doubt lay it out there. Maybe after the season there will be some interviews with him that may shed some light on a few things. Until then, the only thing that getting worked up over this does is raise one’s blood pressure and bar tab.

    I've had season tickets for 30 years. Students showed tonight but it doesn't happen all that often.  I'd like to see a move to disconnect football donation money from basketball seat locations.

    I believe Billy Donovan is on the last year of his contract at OKC and is on thin ice.  Is that a pipe dream if he became available?

    Turner's season I just happened to sit next to Matt Doherty one game scouting Turner for the Pacers. I didn't bug him much, but I asked him specifically about his mediocre season and how I didn't understand the lottery pick talk. He told me there just weren't many players with his physical size and it didn't matter, he would be drafted high and it was unfortunate as Longhorn fans we'd never see his potential.  Was he ever right. They don't do it at every position, but the NBA takes the long view on big men.

    Good post;
    with that being said they both had solid freshman seasons on subpar teams.  Both would have progressed with further college hoops.  However, getting paid more than you or I will ever make is a great reason to leave.  Turner has turned into a solid player quickly as well.  Just seems like  wasted time in school to move on quickly.  As to bitterwhiteguys  comments above why not just let them go straight from HS like before if we don't want to impede their right to make money?  If it doesn't work out then they can do something else much like the rest of us in the real world. I agree arrificial barriers shouldn't keep them from moving on, but that doesn't mean a bit of control and regulation on the college game might not be beneficial.

    Because of what I read from people like Donald Boyles (see post #258) and Joeywa (see post #262) and Java.

    Instead of people who throw a bunch of stuff out there just to get viewers/readers/subscribers. Take those reports with a huge grain of salt because they definitely have another motive for what they tell you other than telling you what's really going on. It's the old "never let a good story get in the way of the truth" mentality.

    I've gone to 4 or 5. I always had a good time and was treated great. I think it's part of that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" deal. Never stayed overnight in Stillwater, drove either from OKC or Tulsa after flying in. Preferred Tulsa, too many Sooners in OKC.
