  1. And yes, I see the irony in distracting myself from the headaches of our football team with the potential, future headaches of our basketball team.

  2. True... regarding the Miami game... but I disagree with your conclusion. The key is ultimately your DL and not your DBs. The run and shoot was new - and it seemed to be unstoppable. Teams were trying to slow down their own offenses to keep the UH O off the field and on defense match their smurfs with additional DBs. Texas was the first to load the LOS and go after the QB like they did. This was basically Buddy Ryan’s theory against the pass. The larger point is that you live or die with pass rush and not coverage.

  4. The only way to stop big 12 offenses is to put pressure on the quarterback. No matter how many men drop back in coverage if the quarterback has all day eventually someone gets open. We should be in a four-man front. And at times we should rush 5, 6 or even seven. You’ve got to make the quarterback throw before the receivers can make their cuts and get open. Getting pressure is the only time we force incompletions, and we never do that with a three-man front.

  5. ^^^This. I tend to give the coach a bit of a break when fielding an inexperienced D. And the injuries, especially concentrated so heavily in the DB room, multiply the slack given. That said, Coach O really needs to step up to give his D a smoking chance schematically. They keep playing D like they have the past few games and Top 25 will be in the rear view as they will likely drop a couple games to otherwise very beatable teams.

  6. We lost alot of experience from last years team. Talent rarely makes up for experience. Texas shouldnt be in the top 25. I am having my doubts on Orlando but not necessarily on Herman.

  7. This, this, 1000 times this! Again, we’ve been through this with the run and shoot of the 80s / 90s. Texas initial reaction was to remove DL in place of LBs and replace LBs with DBs. The result was giving up 60+ a couple times. For grins watch the 1990 Texas UH game. We throttled them by leaving the DL in tack and not allowing the QB time to throw. Giles knows, he was on that DL.

  8. This is now a thread on OB about this and here is apparently how this "rumor" came about. It was mentioned on IT Jake was frustrated with his amount of targets and that was all that was said. Then posters on that site begin to speculate and basically turned it into a rumor as idiotic posters are prone to doing.

  9. In a 7-0 start for Salpointe Catholic, the 6-foot, 205-pound senior has amassed 1,736 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns on just 76 carries. That means Robinson is likely to hit the 2,000-yard mark with less than 100 carries. https://www.maxpreps.com/news/uWcdBBgg4UqYf5KnfppPeg/highlights--texas-running-back-commit-bijan-robinson-could-hit-2,000-yards-in-under-100-carries.htm

  10. Kinda like them trying the same scheme over and over and it failing?!?! Georgia was predictable. I want to see them try something different. Employ a 4 man front. Try getting pressure with DEs getting upfield. Make qbs step up into a pocket and see if one of your guys can get him. I’m tired of the same crap they keep trying. It puts entirely too much pressure on a depleted secondary.

  11. Shane Buechele is having the kind of season so many envisioned after the quarterback started all 12 games as a true freshman in the Big 12 Conference three years ago. While still in Texas, Buechele is closer to home with undefeated No. 19 SMU, where he is among 15 players who were once at other Power Five schools. The quarterback is one of 10 of those transfers from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2019/10/15/no-19-smu-undefeated-with-buechele-and-others-who-came-home/40324479/

  14. Well, to be fair to Jake, on the fumble in the Kansas game he really didn't do anything wrong. He was absolutely carrying the ball exactly as he should and the Kansas player just made a perfect hit with this helmet right on the ball. If the Kansas player just makes a routine tackle, there is no fumble. Noticed that on the replay I was watching this morning. Sometimes it's just the play of the other player that causes a bad play by someone on our team.
