Why are we burning Swoopes' RS?????

I dont normally go here, but I want some answers from that dumbass old man stealing our money on the sidelines. He just burned that kids redshirt for this shit?

I was a bit surprised as well at first. My guess is the coaches know Ash is out for the season and Swoopes is the backup from here on out. If that is true, Swoopes has to play in garbage time like this in case he is needed for meaningful minutes down the road. With this win the rest of the games just got a whole lot more meaningful. Not having a backup QB because you are trying to save a shirt would be inexcusable.

Are you serious Mack? What in the hell are we doing this for? This is very stupid.
Maybe Briles called and said he wanted to get him some reps for next year?

I was refraining from using vulgar language over this move, but this is absolutely ignorant and short sighted. Why? I wish I could ask him this question right away in the press conference. This crap is just another reason why I want Mack gone yesterday.

Ash is done for the year. Mack is all in on winning a Big 12 championship.

Do not understand this move at all

Mack isn't winning anything if McCoy goes down either way. This is basically Mack throwing the middle finger to all the fans.

Everyone needs to chill out. If Ash is out for the season it is a good decision. Are you thinking we can compete for a Big 12 Championship with no backup? This win changes this season fairly dramatically, and it is clear we need a real backup QB that is not a converted RB and has gotten some game reps.

We need to have a back up QB ready just in case. So Swoopes needs to be ready. How would everyone react if Case got hurt and we did not have anyone ready. We can't have it both ways.

I don't have a problem playing Swoopes tonight. He should've been playing a couple of games ago. The kid may very well be our starting QB next year. He needs the experience, badly.

That is a total horse shit move by Mack. You burn his shirt to hand off a few times? Overstreet could have done the same and you don't burn a shirt

Handing the ball off and running bootlegs that don't allow you to throw the ball in a 3 TD game isn't going to help if McCoy goes down. It's an incredibly selfish and stupid move. Give him reps in practice if you want him to be the backup, but don't burn his shirt for meaningless snaps in a game that's already over. So if he doesn't play the rest of the season because McCoy doesn't go down how many of you are going to be ok with this move?

They've got to be counting on at least a quarter each game vs. Kansas and WV. That's the only way it makes sense to burn the kids shirt. I'd like to hear from the insiders if the final word on Ash came down in the last two weeks. That would also make sense.

I think it's been obvious that Ash isn't coming back. But that doesn't change the fact that Mack had no reason to play Swoopes tonight. Like I mentioned earlier, give him snaps in practice, but playing him in a game like this helps him none. If you're going to waste his year play him when it matters. Play Overstreet if you need someone to just hand the ball off. Play a walk on. Don't waste a year of eligibility for no reason.

I thought that perhaps my eyes were somehow deceiving me. However, let us pray that someone / somewhere at Belmont, has received news that perhaps Ash may not play any more this season. And that the coaches are just trying to slowly prepare Swoopes as per the inevitable. Otherwise, this would be a somewhat ASININE move.....

ash will not play nextweek again ku coach brown said

Macks excuse was getting him ready. You dont get him ready by handoffs. Brown made it sound like Swoopes wasnt supposed to take off running on the plays he did. Get him meaningful snaps running the complete offense for the whole 4th quarter. Sorry, but they knew 20 points had TCU beat.

This can still work out ok if we see a lot of Tyrone the rest of the year in meaningful situations, but if his shirt got burned to be the garbage time guy, thats a load of bs.

Mack on Tyrone Swoopes: "He better get ready and he needs to practice better because he may be playing from now on."

Case said it best.... "Tyrone hasn't been hit since High School". He needs to be ready. I personally believe Ash is out for the year. Texas' toughest stretch in 2013 is just around the corner and Swoopes needs to be ready. I hope we are able to see a huge dose of him vs Kansas... during mop-up time.
