And for that matter, who does Mr. Jamail want for the next HC at Texas?

It is not who Joe wants, it is who Joe does not want. Joe feels like he has been dishonored and moved to the side by Hicks & Rawling so, Joe is going to make their selection of Saban a very hard to accomplish.

I appreciate that and that is what I read into much of what you have posted.

I would offer one suggestion for any of the BMDs that want Saban but appear to be facing major turbulence from Mr. Jamail. My Dad raises money and support for projects he believes are positive for my hometown. Like all other towns, there are the 'important people' that can sway public opinion. Well, the last time my Dad was attempting to further his cause du jour he determined that he needed to speak to one of these important persons. This man is recognized by all Texans that are over 30. So my Dad went in to ask for his support, with a spin. Some of these big guys don't need to be sold. They need to believe that they are leading the band. If someone could convince Mr. Jamail that throwing a wrench in the coaching search is by no means helping his legacy that would be step one. Step two would be to find out how to get him on board with Texas hiring the best coach available. Step three is convincing him that his change of mind that is the key to bringing Texas back together.

Therein Lies the problem. Joe believes he is protecting his legacy, not harming it. There is nothing anyone can do to convince Joe that bringing on Saban is the right thing to do. Mack has done a superb in convincing Joe & Powers that Saban is a cheat and man without integrity.

the prob with Joe is yes he has a lot of power and money....but the group of BMD on the other side combined together far outweigh him in power from what I've seen

I've also seen some report (JS etc) that Powers will sign off on whoever Patterson chooses along with the committee.

If Saban is ready to sign a deal I dont think Joe by himself can stop it up against the likes of Hicks, Rowling, Red McCombs, etc. Jamail has gotten sideways from Red as well from reports

If possible sounds like some bridges need to be repaired among BMD, a unified Tx front could be very powerful. And no I don't expect anything like that to happen in short timeframe before coach is hired

If that is the case I see your point. We need somebody with some serious game-theory knowledge to come in here and help us put the pieces of Texas back together again. Mr. Jamail's stance annoys me at times but I do want as many of the factions within the fanbase to bury the hatchet by the end of this process. That may be wishful thinking.
