What's Going On?

Those that have read my post last week on Orangebloods.com concerning pulling back on the sharing of some information can now see that our good friend Jesus Shuttlesworth with InsideTexas has now been asked to slow his roll on leaking updates.

Most of us are aware that Orangebloods has taken a conservative approach to reporting updates on the hiring front of a new head coach while Inside Texas and The Ever Famous Big Cigar has offered all of us a bleeding edge blow by blow updates. I'm a big fan of Geoff, Chip, Jason and the whole OB crew. I also love reading post from Clendon Ross, Jesus shuttlesworth, Eric N & the rest of the staff on IT.

As a fan, we are lucky to have the resources both sites supply us.

One of the advantages about posting on Hornsports.com that I'm going to enjoy is flying under the radar. I won't have the Belmont Nazi's chasing my tail with the intention of discrediting the information shared. As Big Mike has said, this is a site for the fans to be fans. We are not beholding to Belmont in anyway. The only agenda we have is supplying our users with the most up to date information we receive.

Getting back to topic of Jesus Shuttlesworth being 'checked', I suppose that the Big Cigar has been outed in Belmont? That is not good news for any horn fan.

McPhaul - I hope the BC has not been outed because the information that he provided was entertaining and often pretty accurate. I think that while the process is ongoing for a AD and HC(s) there does need to be some level of discretion used in disseminating information. I know we all want to be "in the know" but we'll all find out in due time and I wouldn't want to hinder the process by jumping the gun and leaking information that could hurt any leverage we may hold on certain prospects. I enjoy the insider information and feeling closer to the program as much as anyone but it won't kill me to wait an extra week to know who the next baseball/football/basketball coach is.

Completely agree with this. I would rather find out later that have early leaks and that stop us from doing what's best for the program. It's great to get some inside info bc we arnt privy to that 99% of the time. Hope the leaks wont derail Saban to Texas.

Great to hear and glad you are here at this forum. I am greatful to have found out about this forum and joined recently. As a long-time member of OB, I share your opinion that they have gone "conservative" as of late with information, and I think we all know the reasons why. I am also a member of Inside Texas and really appreciate the info JS provides through his sources and hope that he continues to provide said information in novel ways. However, having you available in this type of forum is "nectar from the gods"! Keep it coming, my brother!

No, your right. This is a site of inclusion. The point I was trying to make was, is that Belmont cannot filter what is shared.

I'm thinking they want JS to slow his role so that too much information getting out doesn't sabotage a Saban deal, I don't think the Big Cigar got outted (especially because he's said that the Big Cigar is actually several sources combined).

Unless you know something that we don't, which is a strong possibility.

I hope not, would not think it would matter. I've never heard of it with coaching hires.

I know when some realignment stuff got out, it may not have changed anything but caused some headaches.

I'm not gonna say don't share, I'll be checking every minute to find as much info as I can. Depends on the source that says don't share and their motives.

It's good to hear from you. No, I have not heard anything specific, just what I read. However, I know a fact that the new Belmont is trying like hell to cut all the leaks out. I was notified two weeks ago by several of my sources that they were going to have to be very careful going forward.

I'm sick and tired of Belmont and their attempts to withhold information or prohibit information getting out. It's one thing for someone within the office to put information out and I completely understand why guys at the various websites who cover the Horns are unable to provide a lot of info, but there's no way for them to prohibit anonymous posters from saying things. The fact that Belmont is even trying to contain this is a joke. After reading the stuff about Voinis or whatever his name is within the department I'm ready for there to be a complete overhaul. Oliver Luck or whoever replaces Dodds can not get here soon enough and start changing the culture around the entire department. Cleaning house is an understatement when it comes to what needs to happen.

If it helps us land Saban, I'm ok with information not getting out. If it's Bellmont trying to save their hides by manufacturing the narrative, then that's a different story

I am usually a "close to the vest" kind of guy, I don't like to show all my cards to early maybe that's the salesman in me or maybe I am just paranoid about wanting things to work out to the fullest potential - we seem to be in a position to set up UT athletics in a way never before seen in collegiate sports.

I could see UT courting multiple coaches at the same time in case plan "A" doesn't work out. Now, someone with an ego, maybe a Tomlin or Gruden, doesn't want to be a second choice. Or maybe coach "B" gets wind of the offer we made coach "A" and holds out for the higher number.

I may be giving too much weight to the power of information on message boards.

Sure they can, and they already are. The difference is, what can they take away from the paysites they cant take away from me? Press passes and access folks. I do all my work behind the scenes, as many of you do here. There is no income to cripple, no passes to take away, and nothing they can do to us.

The other sites have everything to lose and little to gain at this point, as they wont be getting a massive influx of members at this stage of their games. We, however, have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
