I read that also. Sam Walton was a freaking beast of a capitalist. They also create a load of jobs too - don't forget that!

and not a job anyone would want or make a living doing..

Just saying'. Not every entrepreneur can create jobs that pay 100k a year. You want that kinda money you need to work hard, study hard and fight and scrape to get there. Walmart has some suspect policies related to benefits but the sheer number of jobs they produce help folks stay in the workforce.
