Tony Romo is having, by QB rating, his best year. His QB rating is 97.7. He is the fourth rated QB in the league. In six years as the starting QB of Dallas he has never had a rating under 90 and only one other QB, in this time period, can say this and that is Peyton Manning.
"Wait," you say. "Peyton has that ring and Tony doesn't." You would be correct but do you know how many games it took Peyton to get his ring? If you said 144 you would be correct and if I asked, John Elway and you said 219, you would be a sports genius. Tony with only 71 games has time has been pretty darn good and his record of 44-26 puts him in that elite status as well.
If you started a team tomorrow and wanted to start with Drew Brees, Rodgers, Tom Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger and perhaps one or two others in front of Romo,I don't have a beef with that. That amounts to 6 or 7 teams but what of the others? Did you watch the Broncos/Jets game Thursday night? That is what is out there.
Tony suffers from a couple of things. One the anti-Cowboys media and it's influence on some fans and Tony's flaws. I sometimes believe some Cowboys fans just watch Dallas games and instead of comparing Tony to the other QB's out there, they compare him to Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach. These two greats are in the Hall of Fame and not available.
Dallas will defeat Washington Sunday, due in part because of the Redskins lack of a quarterback. So while some spend time drooling over Aaron Rogers, Drew Brees and the other top tier quarterbacks, who BTW are not coming to play in Dallas, spend some time and don't listen to the hate machine about Romo. You know they are the ones like Tom Jackson of ESPN, who last week referred to Romo wearing his hat backwards, all the while not mentioning he has not done that in two years.
