I have a feeling it all boils down to Mack winning the conference or not. If the story of him and Powers after the Ol Miss game are true, then Powers may have given Mack his word that he could stay on if he wins. It was reported he would have to win out, but I can see them agreeing on Mack winning the conference as the threshold as well.
So, while that seemed impossible back then, winning a share if it could happen today. If it does, then could Powers throw a wrench in everything by not being able to go against his word and honor his deal with Mack? If so, then we really need OSU to beat OU today.
If this is true, then Saban knows his leveraging for a max raise could go away and has possibly reached out to Bama to tell them he will listen to their best offer, which would explain why all of the Bama sources are saying he is close to signing.
So does today's game dictate whether Mack or Saban is here next year? I believe so.
