When I looked at the schedule after the big win against Kansas on Saturday, I saw at TCU and at Kansas State. "Trap game" was the first thing that came into my mind. That's a team at home who can pull off the upset. Their only Big 12 win was against Kansas last year. The Texas Longhorns men's basketball team did almost everything they could to give the game to the hapless Horned Frogs but were able to hold on to get a 59-54 win.
Turning Point Of The Game
With the Longhorns up 55-52, Cameron Ridley was fouled and went to the line to shoot two free throws. The Big Man had missed both his free throws before this attempt. He hit both free throws to extend the Texas lead to 5. Then with 7 seconds to go in the game, up only 3 and once again Cameron Ridley had to extend the game to 2 possessions and with Ice in his veins knocks down two more free throws. Those 4 free throws were crucial to victory.
Player(s) Of The Game
Cameron Ridley And Jonathan Holmes
Jonathan Holmes had 20 points and even though he struggled from the line, he hit the big shot when the Longhorns need it. Cameron Ridley didn't play a lot of minutes because of his foul trouble but when he did play, he was a force. Both players were crucial to the victory.
Epilogue
Survive and Advance. It's not going to matter that the Longhorns struggle to win, only that they won. The next game is much more crucial. A road game against Kansas State. The Wildcats have the week off before Texas and after they lost to West Virginia last Saturday, they will be focused on the Longhorns. Not to mention they might feel that they are the better team after they lost by a buzzer beater. The Longhorns need to learn from this game and then find a way to win the game in Manhattan, Kansas. A crucial win to avoid a bad loss that could of hurt the Longhorns in March.
