First four seasons with Sarkisian as HC, he is a genius and we hit the lottery with the hire. This season Texas sits at 3-2 and now Sark can't coach, should be on the hot seat, Arch Manning is a meh qb.

There is still a lot of football left to be played and I wish the portion of the fanbase that is screaming for Sarkisian to go would STFU. Entitled, unrealistic and ignorant fans. Always wanting more instead of appreciating what you have. The guy resurrected a program that was terrible under Charlie Strong and Tom Herman. Two CFP semifinal appearances in the last two seasons.

As far as Arch Manning is concerned, same fans are calling him a flop. He's been the starter for 5 games this season. Five. Anyone remember VY's first couple of seasons? Manning should be afforded the same opportunity to play and learn and develop. He was running for his life in Gainesville on every play. And he did a damn good job given what he was working with on the OL.

To be fair, I have not heard one fan call for Sark to go (be fired).

The first four seasons with Sark - my greatest compliment I had for him was his genius ability for roster management. He built a team, prioritizing the bigs. He supplemented needs with outstanding portal pickups. He churned the bottom of his roster out and added promising talent.

What we're seeing so far this years is complete failure in that area I admired so much. How he looked at this team and decided that a backup QB was a bigger need than adding to the OL is mind baffling. I heard someone say we have the worst RB room in the SEC and based on performance... it's difficult to make a spirited defense against that statement. So... Backup QB = Yes, OL and RB = We're good? And based on the interior DL play against our first SEC opponent, the portal pickups there are now highly suspect as well.

I'm not saying "fire Sark." But I am saying that this offseason was a gigantic swing and miss. And it was a swing and miss in an area that is absolutely critical in this new age of college sports we are in (NIL / Portal age).

My biggest issue is Sark's stubbornness and his scripting of plays in the first half. It tells me he has difficulty game planning against defenses. It is one of the reasons for all the slow starts. The only coach I have ever seen that had success scripting was Bill Walsh. When have Montana, Rice, Taylor, Craig, Rathman and a pro bowl offensive line things become easy.

BTW Arch is one tough dude. QE3 would have gone down with an injury this past weekend. If the OL can buy Arch a half a second more in the pocket we will see progress.

One of the reasons Bill Walsh scripted plays at the beginning of the game was to ensured that his teams were ready to adapt and respond effectively during games. I'm not a coach, but this year I'm not seeing effective responding. Then again, there are new WRs, OL and QB that could inhibit what responses are available.

First....welcome Gummy. Glad to have you...great post.

Next....y'all seem to forget that Saint DKR had a "swoon" after 7years that nearly did him in....he responded with 30 game win streak. All coaches not named Saban go through the same thing. Sark will be fine....I wish he would hire a hot young OC, but I trust him.

I do think Sark's response in the media session on Monday was weak sauce. This one:

“I don’t know if I’m stunned." “I mean, take the other — how many teams are there in college football, 136? Take the other 135 and have them go play at Ohio State and at The Swamp. See how they do.”

That response is what concerns me. No way Sark would say that the first four seasons. I fear this season he knows his team is softer and lacking more than in previous years. IT also makes Texas look weak. Take your lashings for getting beat and don't make excuses. You are the third highest paid coach in all of college football. And you coach at TEXAS. Cannot say stuff like that.

I have seen coaches call out players before and then the coach gets crucified by the media and social media for throwing a kid under the bus. Also when have you heard a coach tell the public "We simply aren't as good this year"? Those coaches typically don't last much longer. Sark knows where this team is and he isn't obligated to make that public to the media that is already shredding Texas.

Hard to argue against facts.
