Most RPI polls have us around number 6 right now.

Baseball America has us as the number 8 ranked team in the country.

Still waiting for other polls to be released later in the day/week. I figured we would move into the top ten in some polls, and I was correct based on Baseball America. Right now we would definitely be hosting a regional with a good possibility of even hosting a super regional. Keep on winning and our RPI should be good enough to host a super regional.

This is a far better team than we have had in the last couple of years.

I haven't kept up much with the rest of the big 12. Are there enough teams in the big 12 thought highly enough so that our RPI will stay high?

The big 12 isn't great, but there really isn't a horrible team. Teams like Oklahoma and Baylor are better then most people thought. TCU, Kansas, and Tech are also pretty good teams. Where Texas really benefits is from their non-conference schedule. Texas won't get a huge bump from the Big 12, in terms of RPI. But I also don't think the Big 12 is going to significantly hurt Texas RPI either. At the end of the day, the non-conference schedule is going to really help our RPI. IMO we will finish in the top 13 in RPI.

Thank utis.

Seems like Auggie always has us playing a decent to very good out of conference schedule.

And we have two games with rice coming up. Would like to sweep both of those but feel like a split would be okay.

Rice struggled this weekend. Lost 2 of 3 to Middle Tenn. State. Still a nice RPI matchup, and a split is probably the likely outcome. I think Texas could potentially win both games though.

Yep, Augie always seems to schedule fairly tough non-conference games. Which is smart, because RPI is a factor in selecting regional and super regional hosts. Which is also why A&M is currently in bad shape in terms of even making the tournament. They didn't lose a whole bunch of games in non-conference but they lost to some bad teams and didn't pick up any quality wins. The SEC may help their RPI some, but their non-conference scheduling is killing them. Scheduling good teams in non-conference is critical.

Because of where I live I get the aggy baseball broadcasts.

Just happened to turn on their game Saturday afternoon which they lost. Dave South sounded like an old fart whose Viagra prescription had expired.

He's horrible at football but is absolutely incomprehensible broadcasting a baseball game.

Is the RPI simply a strength of schedule rating? Or is it an overall rating that includes strength of schedule?

And I assume winning on the road is even better than a home win as far as rpi.

You can say that again.

After the win at Rice (No. 10 RPI) last night, now No. 5 in RPI

and No. 2 in ISR with the No. 7 strength of schedule.
