A thread to generally discuss baseball post season topics.

First off, the big 12 tournament - Texas starts off tomorrow with Kansas (RPI 107). I'd call this a must win for our hosting chances. The tournament is double elimination so we would have a chance to rebound with a loss. The other two teams on our side of the bracket are TCU (RPI 37) and K-state (RPI 54). Avoid losing to Kansas and go 2-2, I think we are still in a good position to host but would be better to go 3-0 or 3-1 and advance to the final. I don't think our seeding would hinge on the result of the final but another win over WVU or Oklahoma State would only help to strengthen the resume.

Since we've had a little discussion on pitching, let's say Texas jumps on Kansas and scores 7 runs the first 2 or 3 innings. Could be a rout. Do you pull your starter in hopes of him starting game 4 or do you keep him in and go with your game 4 starter?

I am in the win today take the games one at atime. Now starting your second pitcher might be a option I could live with. Stay away from that firsr loss as long as possible.

If Gordon starts stay with him as long as possible.

I'm not sure we see any of the starters more than once. These conference championships don't hold all that much weight. I imagine the coaches would rather Gordon have an extra few days rest heading into the regionals than having a few days less rest than normal.

Through 5 innings and Texas trails 2-1. Gordon went 5, was a bit shaky at times but mostly limited the damage. The bats have not been very active today. Need to wake up and score a few runs over these last few innings.

Gordon did not have his best game today. Still pitched good enough to win.

Timely hitting just was not there. ainrentional walk did not pay off.

Maybe next game.

Does anyone know what our RPI was in 2018? That team was similar to this year's team. Finished 37-20 won the regular season title but lost both games in conference tourney.

RPI down to 26 after the loss to Kansas. We really need to reel off 3 wins in a row at least to feel comfortable about hosting (that would be wins over k-state, kansas and TCU in some order). Getting 2 wins over TCU would be better and advance to the final.

Don't think it will happen. Team is too inconsistent.

Texas getting no hit by Kansas State. Don’t book your rooms to Omaha

4-0 Kansas State. They have bases loaded and 1 out. About to turn into a rout.
