It was interesting listening to college sports this AM. The main subject was Mack Brown trying to get more $$$. I did not get the name of the talking heads but was surprised at their take on Mack. It was not good. Their thought was that Mack needs to go due to his bad big 12 record the past 4 years, the amount of money he makes for mediocre football, no linemen drafted since Tony Hills, etc. They thought that UT should not pay him any more than the $500K for fundraising. I was surprised by the Mack bashing from the national media. His reputation is starting to turn negatively in the media IMHO. In an indirect way, it should help with getting our new hire (whoever it may be) done.

I'm still going to have to see some kind of proof that Mack is holding out for more $$$$/threatening a lawsuit etc. everybody is going off of rumors and other bullshit. I just don't buy it.

Joe Jamail is quoted in the Dallas Morning News as threatening to sue anyone seeking Mack's job. JJ was at the infamous Friday meeting with Mack and Powers. More threats were made.

What station were you listening to? Would love to find out who the hosts were.

I agree with the position you presented. Mack was paid to do a job, though he did not do the job well, he held the job until December 14, 2013. The University paid him very well for that job. In his contract written by Joe Jamail, there is a stated buyout amount should he be terminated. That amount is also due him. The contract was approved and signed by the appropriate parties.

The only thing The University owes Mack other than the monies stipulated in the contract is common decency and respect. I have read every news release and every article since this story broke. The University and its leadership have gone overboard to honor Mack and express appreciation for his contributions to The University. Mack, on the other hand, has done everything he can to tarnish The University, the BMD's, and President Powers. He has been vindictive towards people he called 'a friend' less than 3 weeks ago. Mack, in all probability, has no friends at UT at this point.

Mack should no longer be more than a footnote in our history. I am glad some of the media is finally getting the word out.

Having had the chance to visit with Mack on several occasions at various functions through the years, it's very, very disappointing some of the things I'm hearing. Granted, I know Mack knew how to work crowds and that was his job. He was always a very kind and respectful gentleman. It truly disappoints me that he is, shall I say, showing his true colors? I have since came in contact with a few media type friends that say he is a real horses ass. It's regretful to me that he is tarnishing what would have been an image remembered as truly outstanding. Respect isn't given, it's earned. In the same respect, it can be lost. I hope for the former regarding Mack, but fear the latter as time goes on. FWIW

Java, it was Sirius XM College Sports Nation this morning around 11AM. I believe it was Childers show, but not sure.

Well I can't help you as far as proof of the lawsuit, but the fact he is pushing for more money was highlighted in an article published by the AAS writer, Kirk Bohls two days ago.

I'd trust Kirk Bohls about as far as I could throw a Buick. I'm not saying it isn't happening, just that there has been no proof of it happening and just like there is no proof that Saban is or ever was coming. I just don't see Mack being nearly the petulant piece of shit that many are portraying him as. IF there is a lawsuit and or threat, I'd suggest looking no further than Joe Jamail. People are forgetting that one of his big cash cows is about to take a huge cut in pay.

Raistlin,

During the last 30 minutes, I read every article in DMN regarding Mack Brown and Texas. The only reference to Joe Jamail was as a Texas Booster, Brown's Attorney, and three job offers for Brown during Fall 2013, 2 firm. Please provide a link to the article you are citing.

Hook 'em!

What are you expecting? A call from Mack? Or Jamail? You're going to be the thread's Most Disappointed Man because neither you or I or anyone else on this board are going to have either party stop and throw proof of anything in front of us.

Anytime there is a lawsuit as a threat or in play - people involved shut up or are told to shut up. Rumor and back channel messaging is all you're going to get.

It's tough to criticize anyone for what they're going off of when that's the ONLY thing available to them, especially when there is an established pattern of accuracy involved.

What do I expect? The truth, eventually. I think it will come out, sometime.

As far as your criticizing comment, I didn't criticize anything or anyone. If you'd like, you can go check my posting history here and you'll find out that I'm not one to fall for all of the "insider" info that is being thrown around the various sites at an all time high. It sure seems like there are as many Texas "insiders" as there are staffers in the athletic department.

The truth, with proof, will require a wait I'm afraid.

Criticizing may have been the wrong word on this end. My bad. It's just all we got is what we got right now.

I agree that the truth will come out in the end, hopefully. It's amazing how much talk we are still getting on Mack and the coach search. God, I hate when Texas is down in football and I am ready to get back on top and start steam-rolling our opponents again. This alone brings a sense of anxiety to this whole mess right now. I am of the opinion that any of the top candidates will be a huge positive step forward for the program.
