Anyone keeping up with this trial?

Some very interesting facts coming out, I think both are innocent.

More than likely, there is some very interesting lawyering coming out.  Good question from Cheese.  Why did Coach Strong dismiss them from the team?  Anybody care to conjecture?

Both players absolutely deserved to be kicked off the team. They did not treat women with respect and put themselves in a terrible situation with their actions. Strong had no choice but to dismiss both players. With that said, I'm not sure they are guilty of rape.

Well, this is key. UTPD detective acknowledges Jane Doe told him Kendall Sanders stopped having sex with her when she asked him to stop.

For state to win this trial it will have to overcome inconsistencies - some small, some big - offered by its witnesses.

Based on evidence heard in KS trial, MM has good chance at win. His sex began as consensual; JD initially identified only KS as perpetrator.

Jane Doe told police officer that she gave Sanders "the benefit of the doubt" but that it was obvious she was not enjoying the sex.

Defense asks a fair question about photo Sanders took during sex. If a rape, why would perpetrator take a photo of it?

Defense finding inconsistencies. Jane Doe told jury Meander used condom for consensual sex. She told PD he did not. Not yet sure id relevant

Defense arguing that before Jane Doe left with Meander that she had called Peter Jinkens for a ride and possibly sex.

Reads to me like Jane Doe is a party girl.

But, yeah, neither Meander nor Sanders are "treating women with respect" if they're passing her around like a party favor. Strong did the right thing. My hope is they're both acquitted and they have a chance to start over elsewhere.

There must have been some very convincing witness statements for him to be found not guilty. It wasn't a hung jury. It was not guilty, in Travis County.

I hope that he and the young lady get own with their lives and become all that they can be. I don't believe it's rape if she consented and if he stopped when she said, "No". Wasn't that her testimony? He stopped when she asked him to. Yes?

Since the verdict was not guilty I am going to assume he was falsely accused.

Unless there is more to this than has been made public I don't understand why he could not at least return as a student.

Someone tell me where I am wrong.

This is the story on Sanders from the AAS....and it doesn't look good.

"Sanders unable to re-enroll: Though a jury found him not guilty of sexual assault last week, former Texas receiver Kendall Sanders won’t be returning to UT. A university spokesman said disciplinary measures taken by the school are independent of the legal system, and that expulsions are permanent. Sanders was expelled from school and dismissed from the program after being arrested for sexual assault in July 2014.

After his acquittal on Friday, Sanders told the American-Statesman, “I’d love to go back to Texas.â€

On Monday, Strong was asked whether he’d welcome back Sanders, to which Strong replied he would “have a conversation with a lot of people.â€

By the sounds of it, that conversation would be moot."

Well you are innocent until proven guilty. He was found not guilty. I don't believe that makes it a false accusation because that's a false dichotomy. He is just not guilty and the truth is grey and murky.

Well if you are innocent until proven guilty shouldn't he be considered innocent?

During a grand jury hearing they only hear one side, the prosecution. The DA can present as much or as little as he/she sees fit. A high profile case like that will always go to trial.
