Just got a text from a friend that said Wally Pryor passed today. RIP.

Attended UT from 1974 to 1978. Always appreciated those "Slippery Rock" score updates. Made us all smile and enjoy life. A small thing like that made you glad to be at UT. It was just "cool". Made you feel good. Thanks Wally, for being part of my life.

I knew and liked Cactus Pryor an awful lot, and it pleases me that he's reunited with his brother, though like all UT fans, I mourn Wally Pryor's passing. I will never forget him admonishing fans to get off of the goal posts at UT's big '90 win over Houston at DKR.

I met him not long after he was fired from his position as Memorial Stadium announcer and he was a very unhappy person.

He and Cactus were Austin icons.
