- The first half was the worst I had ever seen from the Longhorns all season. It was 2012-2013 all over again. Could not make a shot to save their lives, turned the ball over way too often, and once again left the perimeter jump shot wide open and open men to drive the basket. It was terrible.
- 20% from the field and zero free throws in the first half.
- 6 Longhorns made a shot in the first half. The bad news is each only made 1 shot.
- Alright, I don't like to state my opinions as fact as many message board posters do. So these are some opinions backed up by statistics that I decided to research while having the game on mute in the background.
1. Lon Kruger owns Rick Barnes. In the past 5 games, Lon Krugar is 4-1 against Rick Barnes. At first, I thought this was a bad shooting night but as the night went on, it was clear that Lon Kruger was playing chess and Rick Barnes was playing checkers.
2. Myles Turner is not a one-and-done player. You expect a one-and-done to dominate the court. He does not. He is a very good player and he will likely become a great NBA player, but right now it's very tough to see a team take a chance on Myles Turner right now. The problem is some team may take him high enough to justify him going.
3. Rick Barnes may have to go. The cycle keeps repeating itself. Anytime Texas has a chance to jump out and take the reins in the Big 12, they find a way to lose and lose big. The problem is it looks really bad to fire a coach who is your all-time leader in wins. It's likely going to have to be a "resign" type of situation. Also, Longhorns basketball just doesn't generate the type of vitrol that losing in football does.
- Overall, it's 1 loss. A big loss, but it's just one. The Longhorns get some time off before Saturday's game in Stillwater against Oklahoma State. My guess is they will be running hard the next couple of practices and will show up in Stillwater.
