Or you could cultivate new ones here. Not everyone is a "VIP" but there were some great people here earlier this year and some great folks who came over on their own because they like talking football.

I cant speak for the owners, but I wouldn't think you'd want a board which felt like an "elitist" social club where only the chosen could post without getting chastised. There are already enough places to do that as it is.

the board will inevitably take on the personality and direction of those in charge...That is the appeal of this place...I dont know anyone on here, at least not by your screen names, but the reason I signed up here instead of one of the other boards is the civility and maturity, You can only take so much of threads titled F this person..with all the info flying in from all different sources its nice to see people arent insulting other posters and telling them where to go or what to do to themselves...I feel like we have some real FANS here not a bunch of UT hooligans or a UT lynch mob...its refreshing

I don't get back home very much at all. Hell, in most cases, it's cheaper to fly from Boston to London or Paris than it is to DFW. I'm hopeful I can make it down there next year at some point. As for the poster or posters I'd like to meet? I'm greedy. I'd like to meet you all. I'm 52, just beat cancer and know that life's too short to waste it on who I don't want to meet.

To that end, I hope that if and when I come down, I get the chance to make it to one of your tailgates before a home game. I'll be the handsome one walking around with the name tag, "yep, I'm hornrush!"

Please don't worry about that on this board. If/when you meet those guys you will quickly realize they are just goobers like everyone else. Typically more so.

I think the word is getting out. I came over because McPhaul was one of my favorite posters and I bared witness to how he got trampled by the lemmings. Good clean football talk and discussions over here so far. That said I would love to get Nuufola over here as He always has good info and takes on things and whether he is hearing different things or has different opinions can hold a conversation without getting all upset.

My only concern is a mass influx of the bad characters that infest IT and OB since there is no wall from keeping them out. The big thing is to make sure the ground rules are kept in place and managed. OB for example has the ground rules, it is just no longer adhered to or done in a very inconsistent manner. Then again you can be like Hornfans and be over-zealous in controlling the mob. Having moderated boards with 50k+members it is just a different beast when a community gets to a certain size.

Been a lurker as well on TOS for several years and the egos and immaturity on those forums have become unbearable. I appreciate informative posts on all sites but the disrespectful bickering is quite ridiculous. Glad I found HS and hope this site remains civil.

Pongetti was banned from Hornfans, I think. Not sure why or if that's accurate. It seems like some time later he was allowed to post a single thread for some reason or other and then I'd never seen him again. In that last post he even said something like he was allowed back for a one time only deal. Super weird. Even weirder if I'm remembering that wrong.
