OMG atm regent, want's "kyle field" named after manziel...

Dumbest thing I've ever heard.

1-You want to name the stadium after a player that said he couldn't wait to leave College Station?
2-You want to name the stadium after a player that's suppose to be the antithesis of A&M? For a school that pushes the honor code, it would be hysterical if you named the stadium after a liar and cheat.
3-You really want to name a stadium "The House that Johnny Built? He was 0-4 again ranked teams at home, that just screams mediocrity.

Never have I seen so much hype around a player that's accomplished absolutely nothing that matters.

uhmm, doesn't those huge bats belong to a famous cave or under a bridge somewhere in austin, tx?  just asking...

I love the Chilean flag up there.  I am not sure if it is true, but I had heard once that someone ordered the wrong flag and the ags had a bunch of Chilean flags up at Kyle Field instead of the Texas flag.  If anyone can verify this I would love to see a photo or story about it.

So this picture with the corp is not photoshopped? They really have the wrong flags? Any idea what year this picture was taken?

Remember a few years ago when those Chilean miners were stranded in the mine collapse? Supposedly an aggy was involved in the rescue and the flag was some silly symbol of unity with the miners.

Yet another example of ags trying to show their importance and how much they supposedly cared that ended up making themselves look like idiots when it made no sense to the rest of the world.

What I think is funnier are all the guys in the back who aren't saluting looking at the guys in the front as if they are idiots. People in organizations who aren't affiliated with the mitary or the Boy Scouts look silly when they salute.

Let's hear it for mediocrity. John David Crow just threw up a little in his mouth. What title did JFF actually win for these aggies...oh yeah, NONE. Decades of tradition defacated on by rewarding a punk with such an honor? Former aggie Sean porter said he would never again step foot in that stadium if they rename it per JFF. Gotta like that aggie, knows tradition means something.

I'm assuming Duke's spell-checker changed aggie to "agent".

Former Aggy LB and current Bengals player Sean Porter:

it was an incredible gaffe by schwertner. i doubt he was serious, but his ego is too large to back down from the statement after he was questioned about it.

later, regent tony buzbee went on the record and said that kyle field's name would not be changed, and that the comment was in fact intended to be toungue in cheek.

that being said, schwertner managed to both alienate a significant portion of the former players just because he couldnt keep his mouth shut.

Manziel is the only quarterback in the history of the aggy program lead the team to bowl game victories in consecutive years. He lead the team to consecutive bowl wins for the first time in three quarters of a century and to three straight bowl wins for the first time in the history of the program. In 2012, he lead the aggys to their first top 5 finish in over half a century, their first significant bowl victory in a quarter of a century and their first victory over a SEC team in 20 years. With him as quarterback, the team added two national championships the their resume and he became the only aggy other than John David Crow and John Kimbrough to win the Heisman Trophy. How is that not a resume worthy of having the stadium named after him?

That's some ego, Joe.

We can empathize because we have our share of big money geezers who crave the spotlight; McCombs, Jamail, etc.  Most conscientious aggies scoffed at the idea.  You're probably right.  Schwertner's comments were taken out of context.
