"Not Just Semi-Opinionated" - legendary sportswriter Dan Jenkins

This is what I have been saying since January of 2006 about Mack. A good Guy (before he was fired) but not a X and O guy.

If Mack hadn't been lucky enough to get Colt right after Vince, it probably would have unraveled a lot sooner. The way I remember it, Lyin Ryan was the first choice and Colt was an afterthought. If we'd have gotten Ryan, who knows how bad we would have been.

One of my favorite writers - along with Blackie Sherrod. I think it was Jenkins that coined the phrase "Wishbone" for Royals offense. I could be wrong.

I remember reading an article, years ago, about the greatest salesman in America. She was a car salesman who sold Suburbans exclusively (when the Suburban was the hottest selling car at that time).

But I say nay, nay. Mack Brown was the greatest salesman I have ever seen. I defy you to show me one better.

Go ahead, I'm waiting.

"Just think about it, what in the name of God would Alabama be without the University of Alabama? What would Oklahoma be without the University of Oklahoma? Nothing. That’s why those people are so rabid."

Lol.

No doubt.

But, I get the feeling Coach Strong and Co. are pretty damn good salesmen, too. Convincing top Miami and south FL kids to go to Louisville? That can't be an easy sale!

hands down my favorite "light reading" writer. only carl hiasson comes even remotely close in my book (so to speak).

baja oklahoma, semi tough, life its ownself, dead solid perfect, fast copy, the franchise babe, limo (with bud shrake) and half a dozen others. My favorite of all of those was "baja" but its a tough call. irreverent, politically incorrect as hell, but its pure jenkins.

the other day i found a semi pristine copy of the "Slick Street" SI in one of my closets right after the game of the century in 1969, and the main story about the Horns and Street was written by Dan Jenkins. I ought to auction that sucker off for a good cause.

i have the same SI and i wouldn't auction it off if it would cure cancer. Framed in my home office. hands off damn it.

Ha! Every proclamation has an element of truth in it. Jenkins comment is loaded with the truth.
