Junior RHP Nolan Kingham was a key part of the Longhorns rotation in 2017, and is garnering national attention in anticipation for what should be a big 2018 season.

Per UT

AUSTIN, Texas—Texas Baseball right-hander Nolan Kingham has been named to the Perfect Game/Rawlings Preseason All-American third team, Perfect Game announced Tuesday. It is the second such selection for Kingham in anticipation of the 2018 season, as he was also recognized on the Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-American third team.

Kingham, a junior, served as the Longhorns' Friday night starter for most of 2017, compiling a 2.84 ERA in 16 appearances (13 starts).

The Las Vegas, Nev., native went 10-4 for Texas, making him UT's first 10-game winner since Taylor Jungmann in 2011. Last season, Kingham threw a team-high 92 innings to go along with two complete games and one shutout. He also earned All-Big 12 first team honors.

The annual Texas Baseball Fan Appreciation Day and Alumni Game is scheduled for Saturday, February 3. Texas opens its 2018 slate on Friday, February 16 with the first of three games against Louisiana-Lafayette.

With the Alumni game less than a month away and the season opener against ULL approaching fast, baseball coverage should start increasing soon. I will  start posting some position previews in the coming weeks. Lots of new faces on the squad this year, but David Pierce has a lot of pieces to work with and it should be an exciting group to watch.

Does Kingham get drafted before or after Cooper did last year?

Looking forward to your contributions Jameson.

That’s a tough question. If Kingham takes the next step forward in his development, he could easily be a top 50 pick, which would put him above where Cooper went. He won’t put up the big strikeout numbers Cooper did, but MLB teams know that he has a fastball that can get up around 95-96 MPH and he gets a lot of weak contact.

A lot of ifs for sure. But that's what makes it fun!

personally, I think he has a great year but still gets drafted around 100 overall.

D1 Baseball named their top 100 college prospects and 3 Texas players made the list. These are the 3 pitchers who will most likely make up the weekend rotation for the Longhorns. Very impressive.
