Has anyone watched Netflix "America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys?" I'm not a Jerry Jones GM fan. I'm being nice. Truth is, I don't like Jerry Jones (and he probably could care less). However, his marketing and brand building is something to be admired.

The documentary covers the Jerry Jones, Jimmy Johnson split, the hiring of Deion Sanders, the parties of players at the Whitehouse (Michael Irvin bought a house next to practice field so the players wouldn't have to rent hotel room for drugs and sex). It's an interesting documentary, regardless if you like or dislike the Cowboys and Jerry Jones.

Jerry Jones has become Al Davis 2.0. He has cost himself millions in contract negotiations and utters a seriously stupid comment at least once a week.

Al Davis probably knows more about football than Jerry. Deion Sanders said something interesting in the documentary. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are not chasing the Philadelphia Eagles or any other NFC East team. They are chasing the 90s Cowboys. Jerry Jones is Captain Ahab (and his obsession) chasing the white whale.

Al Davis was pretty successful over a long period of time. Jerry hasn't sniffed success since Jimmy's team. Switzer coached Jimmy's team. It has been 30 years since Dallas has had success. Davis may have seen a down year or two, but his teams were routinely in the playoff conversation.

Jerry gets his mind set on something, and never lets it go. Refuses to adapt and change. Tony Romo single-handily killed my desire to watch a Cowboys football game. But Jerry thought the guy was gold. He was nothing more than a heart-breaker to fans. He'd play a few games well enough to give you hope, then boom, the bottom would fall out.

Dak is just another version of Romo, IMO. He can't stay healthy and when he is, he's not real efffective. But Jerry paid the guy like he was Joe Namath. SMH
