My Perspective on Penn State

I sobered up real quick when I read that post JW. It was a grueling but necessary read and thanks for doing the tough work for a living to keep beer drinkers like us and kiddos safe always.

Great article by Sgt John. It's a much need sobering reminder that the most forgotten people in these situations are the victims. I had the honor of working with Sgt John for several years and understand his persepctive better then most. He continues to fight these atrocities while things like this are why I retired from Law Enforcement early. The victims suffer from the first time until they die, which, statistically speaking, is often before the age of 30. But I would also like to say thank you to Sgt John and the other officers who continue to fight for the faceless victims who often have no other voice. I can attest that the continued bombardment of these crimes on an officer's psyche is extremely damaging. It takes a special man or woman to investigate these crimes and listen to these stories and to confront the animals face to face without losing control. So I salute those officers who continue where I could not. And I offer my prayers to the victims, not just the Sandusky victims, but all the child victims of abuse.

Great read John.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Great post Sgt..now I hope to never have to read another..This depressing story for me is over..Joe Pa is dead and Sandusky is in jail for the rest of his life...

Time for me to concentrate on sports, babes, beer and other stuff that I enjoy.

Note: I meant this as no disservice to your post. I am just so ready to move on to other stuff. Like if this Olympic team could have beaten the original Dream Team? Did that non story beat my ass? Hell yes.

It's a great read but I will have to see it to believe it. I mean during the 80s and all the way up to the mid 90s, the NCAA went really hard on alot of teams. But after they gave the death penalty to SMU, the consensus from Pony Excess and other members is that the death penalty was too harsh. Then the NCAA started going real soft on alot of schools. The biggest softball being Big Red Motors and Rhett Bomar.

I think from the NCAA perspective it will be very interesting to see what they do with Penn State. I do believe a bowl ban should be in place like three years at least but I don't see them going as far as the death penalty. Can a program like Penn State survive the death penalty? SMU couldn't but it's a private university in a crowded state for football talent. Penn State is the big school with not much northeast competition in a state that produces great high school football talent. Also SMU on a consistent basis ignored the NCAA and kept paying for players, Penn State got rid of everyone associated with that situation.

I don't know what to do but then again, that's why I don't work for the NCAA. But I am assuming Penn State's full cooperation and I know Penn State fans are upset about this but Penn State is going to be paying alot of money and it's reputation is going to need repair. It such a tough situation that even with all the facts, I am not sure what the course of action should be from the NCAA side. Legally, they are screwed but what the NCAA could and should do is a tough one IMO.
