I don't understand how to handle this tech stuff. My wife always did this mess for me and tried to get me to learn it but I refused. I didn't want to clutter up my mind with this crap  and now I'm paying for it. I did just have cubital tunnel surgery on both arms  The only injury from the computer crash is a giant headache.

Made a good living off of computers. I was on the hardware side, my wife the software side.

I always found it funny that computers crashing surprised our customers and even our high-level executives, even though we employed a lot of people to fix them (including myself at 1 time) when they "crashed".

Next time just try to log in using your username and when it wants a password, click the button that states "Forgot Password?". It will then send you a temporary password to your email address the account is registered to. If you don't know your email password, write it down and store it somewhere only you can get to it.
