Manziel brought a lot of that. The SEC brought the rest.

We have a lot of work to do in terms of scheduling and realignment.

Facts like this mean nothing to the feckless "powers that be" at UT. Passing on FSU and Clemson earlier this year was the last gasp of the dying "Big 12". A chance to secure a viable TV profile with games that people outside the region would care about. Completely moronic. UT must hire an effective head coach immediately and start scheduling major national teams as rivals to avoid becoming irrelevant in the national TV markets. Unfortunately, ridiculous concerns about Mack's sensibilities are more important than doing what is best for UT. There is no sign so far that Patterson will have the stroke to override the billionaire boosters to do what is necessary. UT is on a path to long term mediocrity.

Embarrassing! I believe the Big 12 really missed the boat when they turned their backs on FSU and Clemson.

I believe that UT is working on getting out of the Big 12-2 to either Independent on football and all other sports to the ACC with 5 football games with the ACC. Like ND But they may have to have UCF & CIN. Join the Bid 12 to have a Big 12 Champ game for 2014.

OR: Big 10 (no football Independent) full membership. They already have done some work on this.

OR: Pac 12 ???????

If you can't see that the Big XII is a rotting carcas, you aren't looking hard enough. It has 2 football institutions worth a damn and 2 others worthy of the Top 25 year in and year out. The rest is just filler. In basketball, 1 real institution and maybe 2 or 3 others worth a damn. Forget college baseball. TV doesn't care about college baseball.

Texas should be looking for the exits for the best deal possible, damn the academics and the buyout. Just do it and be done. And if you can screw over the Aggies and go to the SEC at the same time, double win.

No way. The GOR is real so UT can only leave the Big 12 with a lot of friends. Dodds was totally focused on his wet dream the LHN which is a money maker but a national exposure and media fiasco that may make it difficult to attract a big time coach who is either not media savvy or up for all the TV time. Dodds blew the GOR and expansion big time and has not placed any big names on the football schedule in the near term to fill the big media void. He also saddled his successor with all three major sports in deep decline or persistent mediocrity. How would you like to be the new AD dealing with the disaster that Dodds has left behind and the catastrophe that is Mack Brown and Jamail/McCombs?

The elder folks on here will appreciate Dodds more then the younger ones. There may have been a time where Deloss was a good AD, but in the last decade he has been a below avg guy. He has left the Texas Athletic Department (what he is suppose to oversee) in a horrible situation. Yes, Texas has $ but nothing else. Fans from every other school laugh at us as they should. We suck at all that matters in the Athletic Department and have the past few years. Not only that but the way Deloss F'ed up realignment, he might have dont that to Texas for the next 10+ years. More short term $ but less long term fans.

Sure this can change but until it does, not a single person can deny that Deloss has created and left the Texas Athletic Department in cow manure.

I don't think that's true at all. The GoR alone is reason enough but I also don't think we have leadership willing to give up significant control that would be required to join one of the power conferences where equality among schools is the norm.

A couple of thoughts and a question..The questions first..

UT-BYU ............. 0.8 ..... 1,290,000

Where are the rest of the games? By my count they have played 12?

Comment...

Looks like the bump is mainly caused by the SEC effect? Texas drew a 0.04 for TCU and ATM drew a 0.05 against SMU. There is no doubt the SEC is sucking the life out of other conferences. I am not sure what we can do about that? The LHN is another story and my guess is the parties involved could have a do-over they would?

The good news is a bit off target, but the move to the SEC may have backfired on ATM. Playing a good team, week in and week out will sooner or later take a toll on those television ratings. Plus they are a snapshot in time. Texas is down, and ATM has never been hotter. It is still troubling.

We just need to worry about winning. Was there ever a year prior to the 2009 MNC game where we all got together at the end of the season and squealed with glee like schoolgirls at our tv ratings? No. We didn't care because we were winning.

Nick Voinis is being paid an absurd amount of money to (mis)manage the public image of the program. Does anyone think the UT brand is being properly managed? Well, the solution is simple. Clean house within Bellmont.

We need a new head coach, but we also desperately need to fire the person responsible for managing our brand in the media and replace him with someone who is competent.

When I look at how many people within the program who have been cashing paychecks and not delivering value it amazes me. Either Patterson starts making changes or we turn on him for accepting the status quo.

burn this shit down!!!

But when we were winning the Big 12 was a tad better Conference and it was actually 12 teams. Mack and Deloss said repeatedly that they were looking for a easy path to the MNC. Well here we are just like Mack and Deloss wanted.

The big 12 won't be disbanded because of Texas' governmental issues. The state generates too much money off of football games to allow TTech, Baylor, and TCU to go to a terrible traveling fan MWC. Us leaving the big 12 also potentially destroys the RRR = tons of money for the state in taxes.

Texas needs to try it's hardest to disband the LHN and find some new teams to fill the gap.

All major conferences have GOR's, which means those teams are off limits. So we're stuck into getting sub-par programs or builder programs. UCF is a potential powerhouse and actually brings a lot to the table, honestly I think they should rename themselves back to Florida Tech though....

Texas in the big 12 is a wreck, as much as I would like to flee the titanic, we can't!

We gotta fix Deloss' mistakes and resurrect the conference. First we can start boycotting the LHN and hope ESPN disbands the damn thing!
