Since the Ags are whipping us as it pertains to social media use and exploitation, I was curious what that kind of operation actually costs.

What do they cost us or how much do we spend on them? They cost us an enormous amount in brand value, in diminished image of the program and I think they probably lost us a half dozen highly rated prospects.

How much do we spend on them? There are 27 individuals listed in the directory in the media group. Nick makes the most at just under $175,000. The low paid staff make about $35,000. All in, including benefits they probably cost around $2.25 million/year (not including facilities space).

Of course, not a dime of that can be cut and not a single person can be replaced with anyone more competent because State Patterson runs the bestest athletic department in the world!

Yea Steve! Yea Nick!

We're Grrrrrrrrrrreat!

Nobody has ever said a dime couldn't be cut or no one could be replaced.

Try and make your point without straw men.

for our brand....lets raise the budget two fold for we need to pass a$m now.

I've read and re-read this several times, but I guess I am just too old.

What do you mean when you say the ags are whipping us in social media and expoitation?  And, what kind of operation are you talking about?

Me no get it.

This is what I was asking. For that money and staff why are they ahead of us in utilizing branding and technology like the opponent is.?

My guess of why Duke thinks they are "ahead of us" is this, recruiting, stadium upgrade, sec buzz, plus atm is one of the cool schools almost forgot the swag copter. I think it is the JFF hangover still lingering in CS. An aggy friend of mine thinks the media people at atm aren't worth a damn. You also have the Billie L show where he spins everything for aggy. He was talking about Strong and that speaking engagement and how so many HS coaches were not impressed. Also talk about how a 10 win season in big 12 is nothing but a 10 win season in sec is fantastic. So many aggy faithful believe this nonsense and follow blindly. Just like the 12th man story. You can prove it false and still they believe. Just win baby.

Luici has always spun for the ags and the ags have always believed nonsense and followed blindly. nothing new here.

i was asking whisenant what metrics he was using to come to his conclusion. maybe there is one, or more. or is it a perception think akin to monarch's 'longhorn nation is in an uproar' post a few days back. just curious.

It was Whisenant who said they were ahead of us, not me. I said our media group was inept, ineffective and badly in need of a complete house cleaning, starting at the top and starting today.

My question for those admiring the performance of those in Bellmont is "Exactly where in the administration of the athletics program do you see examples of excellence?"

There is nothing happening in Bellmont that rises above the level of competent, at best. I see nothing innovative, exceptionally creative or revolutionary. In instances where incomplete or incorrect information is being published by major sports media outlets (ie Travis Haney/ESPN), the media group seems slow to react (to put it kindly) and however they respond, they seem ineffective. When was the last time any of us went to one of the UT websites for sports info? We don't use them because they offer us little, if any value. Has Bellmont developed a strategy to use websites (like Horn Sports) that people not only find valuable, but that we are willing to pay for, to help drive their message (no).

Again, considering the program is flooded with resources, where is the excellence? Why is the image of UT athletics second in the state to the cow college? The Steve Patterson hall pass excuse of his only having been on the job since last November is growing stale. It seems increasingly obvious to me that Patterson is very tolerant mediocrity and is quite satisfied with the standard of being mildly competent. That isn't the standard we are used to at Texas, but that seems to be the standard we need to start getting used to under Patterson.

define 'ahead of us' . How are you measuring branding and technology?

Ive got to go find the posts if its not buried, but there was a post somewhere that had the numbers on what their social media following is, things that department does to assist them in recruiting etc that are ahead of what we are doing in effort and "followers".

That was what made me wonder what the numbers looked like and why we wouldnt be just as aggressive as they are if we have a similar staff which should be doing a similar job.
