Using your financial clout and/or your ability to be heard to place pressure upon decision makers into the hiring, firing of a coach has direct effects upon the program.
If I am critical of a coaches results, trust me, Dr. Fenves or AD Perrin could care less of my opinion. However, if the criticism comes from a BMD, they will be heard. It is my opinion that pressure from donors, specifically, the big donors have and will continue to influence future coaching decisions.
Therefore, that is why I feel they are involved in decisions that ultimately effect the building of a football program.
