Mack Brown Receives Inaugural Gene Stallings Award

Mack Brown has enjoyed a ton of success on the football field as head coach of the Texas Longhorns. Sure he has had a couple of challenging years in his tenure (what coach hasn’t?) but Texas looks like they are ready to bounce back strong in 2012. We all know that Coach Brown is in the public eye for his team’s performance and outcomes on Saturdays, but he is also receiving well-deserved attention for his work off the field. On Monday Mack Brown received the Gene Stallings Award, which is presented to a Division I head football coach for humanitarian efforts. Coach Brown is well known for his support of the Rise School in Austin, which honored him last year by announcing the school’s new facility would be named after him and his wife. Brown received the award in Dallas and participated in a dinner fundraiser for The Rise School of Dallas. Special congratulations to Mack Brown for receiving this award and for all the great work he does in the Austin community.

Coaches are forced to do these things. Can you imagine if Mack Brown was asked to be involved in a philanthropic activity and he said "Hell No!"? There are a lot of coaches that deserve an award like that. Not to downplay Mack but crap, come on.

Guess he could be more like Bobby Petrino and whore around on his wife while screwing over the university which employs him, or be like Jim Tressel who lied and cheated. Quit smoking the tall stuff and get your head outta your ass.
