Heard part of an interview with Mack this morning. Said he would really like to have sat down with Patterson one-on-one by this time to talk about the future of Texas football. His cadence was quicker, his voice was higher. He said Patterson came in to talk with his staff, "me and 17 of my closest friends". He was talking with a smile but you could hear the frustration. Regardless of where you stand on Mack's future, I was a little surprised that Patterson has not had at least a quick meet with the most important coach in the athletic department.

I dont buy for a second there have been no conversations. Thats been Mack's talking point for weeks

I think this says volumes on what is about to happen IMHO. We will see for sure very soon I believe.

Let's assume Patterson was hired to get rid of Mack or that it is his intent, if I'm Patterson I don't want to have any kind of conversation or develop any relationship with Mack prior to the "pack your bags" conversation.

Agreed, this also provides some smoke and runs contrary to Patterson being dubbed the "Hatchet Man."

One thing I have learned. If Mack is talking and there is a mic in the room you can pretty much bet that he is lying to some extent.

They have had meetings... where there is smoke there is fire

This. There have been meetings. And Mack (as well as other head coaches) were told to win or else. (paraphrased obviously).

Without diverting the subject - and I just saw McPhaul posted, so I gotta get over there - I was once brought into a company knowing we'd have to layoff about a third of the staff due to business losses. Worst thing I've ever had to do, but my eyes were wide open. The first thing I did was talk to every department head one-on-one, to see what the issues were and how they saw the future. And I'm no hatchet guy. So I can't imagine that Mack and Patterson haven't had a sit down. But Mack was pretty adamant about it in a throw-em-under-the-bus-but-say-it-with-a-smile kind of way.

Here is my deal, I dont hire the lawn guy without talking to him first, I certainly dont believe for one second a man with the business acumen of Patterson has not talked to his largest expenditure.......

I'm sure he has had several conversations with Patrick Suddes.
