Warren Easton (New Orleans, LA) cornerback Ronald "Champ" Lewis committed to the Colorado Buffaloes in early June and thought he would spend his collegiate career in Boulder. He attended a Texas camp this summer and received an offer from the Longhorns on Wednesday, almost two months later. The 6-1, 170 lb. 3-star prospect decommitted from the Buffaloes after receiving the offer and committed to Texas the very next day.
Lewis won't be the lone Easton player on the roster in Austin, as he will join Casey Cain who is a freshman wide receiver for the Longhorns.
He is a track and field athlete as well, specializing in the hurdles - and he has the speed and athleticism to play both corner and safety.
Lewis is ranked as the 39th best player in the state of Louisiana, the 79th best cornerback in the country and the 862nd best player in the nation according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He held offers from Louisiana, Purdue, West Virginia, Oregon State, Colorado and Kansas among others.
He becomes the 17th commit for the Texas Class of 2022.
