247Sports has just updated their rankings for the 2022 recruiting class. One of the most notable changes was quarterback Quinn Ewers’s move to the number one spot. However, Ewers is already a well known product in the recruiting world as ESPN had named him as high school football’s number one prospect. Today, I will highlight the Texas targets that landed in the top 25 of the rankings.

QB – Quinn Ewers (Southlake, TX)

Following his 2019 season, Ewers was named as the MaxPreps Sophomore of the Year. Last season, the 6’3″ gunslinger eclipsed the 4,000 yard passing mark and threw for 45 touchdowns for the Carroll Dragons. In addition to his passing, Quinn used his speed to rush for 468 yards and nine touchdowns.
On top of that, many have compared Ewers to Clemson quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. Quite simply, like Lawrence, Ewers is a generational talent. In order to land the nation’s top prospect, the Longhorns must fend off schools such as Auburn, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
CB – Domani Jackson (Santa Anna, CA)

Jackson, the nation’s highest rated defensive back, plays for one of the nation’s top high school programs, Mater Dei. The speedy cornerback shows great ball skills, possibly thanks to the fact that Jackson spent a portion of his football career as a wide receiver.
Just 11 days ago, Jackson named Texas as one of his top ten schools. In recent weeks, the Longhorns have heavily invested in their secondary, landing three defensive backs in their 2021 recruiting class. Adding Jackson to the mix could, very well, be the icing on the cake to reestablishing Texas as “DBU”.
WR – Caleb Burton (Del Valle, TX)

Burton, named as the nation’s top wide receiver, only has two years of experience at the position. However, he has adapted quickly. According to MaxPreps, Burton has accounted for 1,515 yards receiving in his first two seasons of varsity football.
The Longhorns have the home field advantage when it comes to Caleb’s recruitment, as he plays his high school games just over 15 miles away from Texas’s campus. However, Texas will have to compete with schools such as Oklahoma and Ohio State to win Burton’s talent.

Following the 2020 season, the Longhorns will be in desperate need of some help on the offensive line. The 6’4″, 265 pound lineman has the potential to help fill that need. As shown in the tweet above, Campbell has a knack for getting to the second-level and creating opportunities for his teammates.
To win Campbell, the Longhorns will have to beat LSU and Oklahoma in the recruiting battle.
SDE – Omari Abor (Duncanville, TX)

Abor is a two-sport athlete that plays basketball and football. In 2019, the 6’4″, 240 pound defensive lineman was named as the District 8-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
The Longhorns will hope to continue their success of recruiting talent from Duncanville as they landed four-star quarterback, Ja’Quinden Jackson, in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
CB – Denver Harris (Houston, TX)

Harris was a key contributor to North Shore’s 2019 title team, helping them to win their second straight championship. Denver is well sized as a cornerback, standing in at 6’1″, and would be a good addition for new Longhorns cornerbacks coach, Jay Valai.
Denver has seen his number of college offers increase dramatically as of late, as schools such as Ohio State and Notre Dame have joined in his recruitment. However, in February, Texas was named as one of his top eight schools that he is considering.
