Live playoff updates from AT&T Stadium: Rd 3 edition

I'm back for another long day to cover a 4 pack of games.  

Frisco Lone Star vs. Marshall

This game kicks off in about 37 minutes.  Interested to see Lone Star's QB Jason Shelley who I have ranked on the 2017 HornSports Top 50.  

Wylie vs. Longview

Not looking at anyone specifically here, but should be a fun game with that great East Texas athleticism Longview brings.

Arlington Lamar vs. Mansfield

This is the main event for me personally.  Shane Buechele vs a tough Mansfield team and Kennedy Brooks who should absolutely feast on a weak Lamar run D.

Mesquite Poteet vs Lake Ridge

Probably the best matchup of the night.  Lake Ridge is on a tear, but Walter Dawn Jr of Poteet has been one of the best individual players in the playoffs.

Lone Star is up 7-0 after scoring on their first drive.  The defense has forced two Marshall 3 and outs.

28-7 at the half.  Lone Star looks tough.  Jason Shelley is the best player on the field.  I'm working on a couple of other things and not focused on updating for this game.  I'll check in when I can.

Final here, Lone Star wins 56-7 over Marshall.  Lone Star QB Jason Shelley was amazing.  340 yards passing with 3 touchdowns and 110 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns.  He's definitely a guy Texas should look at if they want to take 2 QB's in 17.  He said he hasn't heard much from them lately though.

I talked to Shelley after the game.  

HS: Are you hearing from Texas

JS: No, with the problems they've been having lately they stopped calling me

HS:  Who are you hearing from?

JS: Arizona State, Colorado State, Notre Dame, Purdue, Houston, SMU

HS: Anyone sticking out?

JS: I'm still evaluating.  I'm just playing football right now, we'll worry about that other stuff later.

Wylie vs. Longview is about 55 minutes away.

There are almost no prospects for Longview or Wylie so I'm going to do some work on updating our rankings while keeping an eye on the game.  I'll check in periodically to update.

That's a pretty big surprise, IMO. That Frisco district isn't usually very tough while Marshall stepped up and knocked off Longview this year.

Lone Star looks primed to make a run

Kennedy Brooks is a steady runner.  He marches right down the field and powers it in on a methodical drive.  Not a lot of flash but great vision and patience with a ton of balance and power.  Buechele marches down in response and throws a 35 yard TD pass.  XP is blocked, Mansfield up 7-6.

Buechele's TD was a perfect pass dropped right in the bucket.  He looks good early.

Kennedy Brooks is a nice player but I think I feel comfortable ranking him in the tier just below Toneil Carter and JK Dobbins.  He would be great for the Texas offense as it's currently constituted though.

What a game between Lamar and Mansfield.  After throwing a pick 6 to give Mansfield a two score lead and having the following drive fail, Lamar scored quickly and recovered an onside with 40 seconds left.  They got all the way down to the 24 but couldn't get it in.  Mansfield advances 34-29.  Buechele played such a gritty game and threw 4 touchdown passes.  He was understandably down afterwards but no reason for that.  He fought his guts out.
