Place where we can post news/information regarding the second junior day.

247 is reporting that Texas has a surprise visitor. Top 100 national recruit. Anyone have access?

Dylan Moses didn't make the trip. There is a Nike Sparq combine in New Orleans today and a lot of NOLA kids are going to it.

Malik Antoine made it to Austin though.

Newton DB Roney Elam, Jr., is, I think, a 4-star, just got offered earlier this week by Texas, has offers from LSU, Bama, A&M, others. #5 and played QB as well. And runs track, and last I saw, all his 4x relay groups were advancing in State, so would not be here. I'm a Newton-ex, and my sister just retired as a teacher. Knows a lot about Shorter, not much about Elam.

I've seen Newton play the last three years, and they have some incredible athletes. I am hoping for the best for Shorter. He was absolutely incredible prior to his injury.

Scott says Dyer and Guyton are the most likely offers.
Well, Dyer did not get an offer. His uncle and I went to school at NTSU and he just called to say no offer was extended. Guess the staff is counting on out of state talent here.

2016 offer went out today:

Texas also offered the Johnson Brothers today - Kirk (2015 RB) and Colin (2016 WR) from Valley Christian HS in San Jose.

Conner Dyer wasn't offered, a pretty high four star. That's why people shouldn't get too worried about the recruiting stars with this staff. Wickline and Strong are very different than Mack. They aren't going to take a guy merely because he's ranked high on a recruiting site, they evaluate talent and find players that fit the system.

Brian Perroni on 247sports has said Dyer is one of the most debated highly rated prospects in the state in recent memory. Some schools have him as a priority target while others haven't even invited him to any camps or junior days.

what about the Jones DT 6'7" 320 lbs with no fat 2016
Kendell Jones is listed at various heights/weights - the most common seems to be 6'4 or 6'5, 295

Regardless, he is a 2016 and quite the physical build already ........

QB recruit Dormady said he was told we will be taking only one QB in this class.

Interesting.

Texas great Johnnie Johnson with sons Collin and Kirk --

“I wouldn’t say I would push them, because they know how great the University of Texas is,” Johnnie Johnson said. “I have definitely let them know it though. If they wanted to follow in their old man’s footsteps, well then that would be fine with me.”
“We’re going to go back home and discuss this with their mother and sit down as a family and talk about it,” said their father, former Longhorn All-American defensive back Johnnie Johnson. “Then we will go from there.”

“We all loved it,” said Johnnie Johnson. “This whole coaching staff here is great. My sons and I loved them all. Each coach seems to really be valuable to this program and is here for a good reason. That was one of the best parts of the visit. I know my sons really enjoyed spending time with them.”
