If you watch the NFL, Gruden does one thing very well . He can breakdown a quarterback. He knows what to look for and what he's seeing. What was our biggest breakdown the last 4 years? Quarterback evaluation and development! Look at all the Quarterbks in the pros that came from the state of Texas but not from The U! It's all about the QBS! How do you see Gruden now!

Saban has shown you don't need a superstar QB to win national championships. He takes coachable, above average kids like A.J. McCarron and Greg McElroy who can execute a game plan and make few mistakes and consistently has one of the best programs in the nation.

You both are correct. There are many ways to win. The issue with Texas over the past decade or so is that we tried to be each of them, rather than stick with one system.

This is simple and extremely accurate at least for the last half decade. We had no issue running, when the QB was a viable running threat. Even from the spread, the zone read gashed people. The opposing defense had to pick who wasn't going to beat them, but then the other would. Mack let that one freak injury to Colt take him away from a winning formula and it all began to unravel from there.

Welcome Ellie44, great to see you over here. Welcome to our community!

Great poster guys, she's got some great takes on the Horns.

u win the line of scrimmage doesn't matter what qb you have and that's a fact. Having a running qb makes the defense account for him and makes it easier to pass the ball. Having a pocket qb means you have to run the ball downhill and work off of play action to move the ball down the field. Either way you have to have the offensive line control the other side

We had no identity on offense. Mack changed philosophies like you change your mind. NO IDENTITY. This trickled down into recruiting and EVALUATION of talent.

Thank you SirHorns...

Good to see another vibrant UT community in which to participate.
