  • The game will be televised nationally by CBS.
Texas versus Kansas series:

  • Kansas leads the all-time series, 23-8. Kansas won the last meeting 85-54 (Feb. 22, 2014; Lawrence).
  • For games played in Austin, the series is tied 6-6.
  • The Longhorns posted an 81-69 win against No. 6/7 Kansas (Feb. 1, 2014) last year in Austin.
  • Kansas and Texas are the only two conference schools with more than 200 wins against league competition (KU at 285; UT at 220).
Texas notes:

  • Entering Saturday's contest against No. 11 Kansas, Texas has a 34-19 (.642) mark against AP Top 25 foes under Rick Barnes at the Erwin Center.
  • Texas held TCU to 48 points on 33.3% FG shooting and recorded a +11 rebound margin (41-30) in Monday's victory.
  • Junior center Cameron Ridley has averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in 24.5 minutes per game over the last two contests.
Kansas scouting report:

  • The Jayhawks rebounded from their first Big 12 loss of the season (at Iowa State) with an 85-78 win against No. 19/20 Oklahoma on Monday night.
  • The Jayhawks are very efficient on offense, scoring 72.3 points per game with a +7.4 scoring margin. KU leads the Big 12 in three-point field goal percentage at 39.7 percent and averages 14.2 assists per game.
  • On defense the Jayhawks are almost as impressive as they are offensively. KU outrebounded their last four opponents, averages 39.2 boards per game, and has a +7.1 rebound margin. Additionally Kansas averages 6.8 steals and 4.8 blocked shots per game.
  • Junior F Perry Ellis scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds against Oklahoma (1/19). Ellis leads KU in scoring with 12.8 ppg and rebounding with 6.7 rpg.
  • Sophomore G Frank Mason III is just behind Ellis with 12.7 points per game (11th in the Big 12). He posted a career-high 21 points at Iowa State (1/17) and has 15-straight games scoring in double figures. Mason is third in the league in assists with 4.2 per game and sixth in free throw percentage at 82.0 percent. He also leads the Jayhawks with 25 three-pointers and pulls down 4.0 rebounds per game.
  • Sophomore G Wayne Selden, Jr., is second on the team with 24 three-pointers made. Selden had 12 points at Iowa State (1/17) and scores 8.9 points per contest. Selden has 59 assists.
  • Rounding out the three guard-two forward lineup are freshman G Kelly Oubre, Jr., and junior F Jamari Traylor.
  • Freshman F Cliff Alexander is typically first off the bench. He notched his second double-double of the season with 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Oklahoma (1/19). He leads Kansas in blocked shots with 25 and in field-goal percentage at 57.3 percent.
  • 5 players (3 G’s, 2 F’s) make up the bench minutes.







 
looking forward to it. glad we have a couple of nice performances most recently and we're catching ku while we seem to be playing well. not a big 'statement game' guy, but this kinda feels like it could be one for us.

 
It's the battle of the bigs today. Which means Cameron, Myles and Prince need to be on. I would expect Myles to play a big role today because Perry Ellis is a lot like him. He can hit jump shots and 3 pointers. Should be a good game.
