A brief glance at bowl games past which have been tough to take:

1984 Freedom Bowl, 17-55 Iowa

1990 Cotton Bowl, 3-46 Miami (felt worse than that on row 66)

1996 Fiesta Bowl, 15-38 Penn State

2000 Cotton Bowl, 6-27 Arkansas

2013 Alamo Bowl, Oregon 7-30

Last night didn't feel like 1990 b/c expectations of a 6-6 team entering a bowl game provided a reality check of sorts, it really felt more like 2000.  Being at that game, once things started to get away from the Horns, it just felt like there was no more fight or pride (use that word in light of the quotes from Q Diggs and M Brown after last night's game).

What does it mean, UT knows without a doubt that Tyrone Swoopes isn't the answer.  Case McCoy and Tyrone combined for 9-23 passing vs Oregon last year for 56 yards and backed up that bowl effort by Tyrone throwing for 57 yards on 13-25 attempts last night.  Tyrone isn't the only problem as the OL needs to improve dramatically in 2015 and as much as WR's Harris and Shipley were considered reliable, both had issues when trying to break free from bump coverage.

The real issue is that besides a couple of guys on defense and maybe Jonathon Gray, the most productive players on the roster are all gone next year.  The usual jump from year one to two for a new staff may need to be tempered a bit for 2015 as it seems another year to lay a foundation may be warranted.

Raise your hand if you would take 8-4 for the 2015 season and play in a better bowl after what you have seen this year.  I know I would.
