In 2 years Herman is 22-4.

2015: Herman beat 9th ranked FSU in first year at the Peach Bowl.

2016: Beat ou and demolished Louisville both which ranked #3 at the time.

So his 28th ranking is disrespectful even though he has only coached 2 years.  He is undefeated against top 25 teams (6-0) in those 2 years, and 3-0 against top 10 teams.

Granted he has some eye opening losses such as SMU but still you cant discount his BIG game wins.  I call BS on his 28th ranking.

I cant wait for this season its been years since I have been this excited the season to start.

1-25

I could care less on how Herman did at UH or how he's being rated from it. I cared when we hired him, but not anymore.

If Herman doesn't work out here then who cares on how well he did at Cougar high.

The point being is he beat teams with his Cougar High team that we lost to as in ou.

While we will never know for sure I am pretty sure Herman would have beaten Strongs team either of those 2 years.

So maybe you should give him a little more respect than you are.

Yeah, maybe his ranking is low, but those rankings don't mean jack. I'd imagine Charlie Strong would've been ranked higher when he stepped in 3 years ago and we all know how that experiment worked out.

Give him a year or two as the head football coach at a major university before really determining where he stands on that list.

You may want to reread my post. All I said is i don't care what is rating from his years at UH.I guess the writer wasn't impressed with Herman finishing 4-3 over his last seven years in his second year at UH. Doing that should have put Herman in the top 10.

Interesting.

So Hermans wins vs #9 FSU, #3 ou, #3 Lousiville do NOT carry much weight because he wasnt coaching at a major university?

Considering the losses to cellar dwellars Iowa State and hapless Kansas should count less because Strong was coaching at a Major university

Yes. Strong beat OU, Baylor, and Notre Dame, all ranked top 10 over his few years, but that didn't make him a top 25 coach. Texas also played a superior schedule to Houston.

I'm not saying that Herman is worse or better than Strong. I'm just saying that unless he coaches for a team playing a consistently strong schedule over a few years, it's hard to gauge where he belongs on a list of top coaches.

Again, the lists are arbitrary.

We all know ND was not a legit top 10 team.  Preseason hype.  They won 4 games last year.

Baylor all I can say is thank god Herman is better at using WR's at QB than Briles was.

I heard this argument a lot over the last 2 years when I was on the Herman train..."He doesnt play in a good conference come on"  I wonder if Lamar Jackson/Louisville and FSU were thinking the same thing when they got beat by such a no name school as Cougar high.

I get the point you are making but just disagree with it.  Herman won so many games with a converted WR at QB. Strong couldnt beat Kansas with 2 top 10 classes.

I understand your point as well. Heck, I was just talking with my dad today about how I believe Herman has what it takes and will eventually be right up there with the Meyers and Sabans of college football. But I just don't think he's there or even close to that with only 2 years of HC experience.

One thing that is sure is that he has the opportunity now to prove that he belongs in that discussion.

I believe Herman will be the guy to deliver.  God I hope so.  Its hard to believe its been 8 LOOOOONG years since we have been relevant in football.
