Have We Seen the Last of Case McCoy?

Following last season Case tried to transfer to Abilene Christian but the coaches talked him into staying and competing for the starting job. The highlight of his career has been the thrilling comeback against the Aggies but lack of arm strength and foot speed doomed him in the Baylor game.

Last night while watching David Ash turn his game around and actually look like a quarterback, I thought of Case and wondered if we would ever see him again. If he decides to transfer, good luck to him and Hook Em Horns.

Yeah he's obviously got some decisions to make soon. Either man up, improve his game and compete for the starting job again or take his talents elsewhere IMO I think he's probably gonna leave. There's lots of talented prospects that would love the chance to play QB at UT which makes the pressure of performing even greater on those currently there. If you don't perform your ass will be replaced as Case has experienced first hand.

I think it depends on the size of his ego. We have Brewer and Overstreet coming in next year and from what I read there are questions about Brewer's arm strength. We saw how fast the "transfer floodgate" can open adnd I would hate to see us in the same position we were in this year. I assume he will end up transferring.

I just head a rumor that McCoy didn't have a good attitude and that figured into his not playing against Cal. Something happened to Ash because he started to make some plays in the second half. Maybe not having Case breathing down his neck was the reason but he did start to throw the ball better..

Shame Case thinks he has a right to start just because of his last name. Mack wised up and realized the ship was sinking and the best player would start. Let him transfer.

Case has been bad news the entire season. I respect him for the drive in the A&M game but he has nothing to complain about. He sucked it up just as bad as David Ash. If he decides to transfer, let his sorry ass! This whiney spoiled brat attitude has got to end.

When he talks to the media he seems like a good kid, harmless of any of the purported "vrattiness." I will say one thing though - if he DID pull that garbage about refusing to go in the OU game after told to by his coaches... His self would have been kicked off the team. Brick by Brick baby. No pansies allowed.

The facts are MB recruited Case McCoy. MB wasted Case McCoy's redshirt. MB was the reason for the 5-7 year and fired coaches when he should have fired himself. If true MB begged Case McCoy to stay. MB didn't have a QB ready for the National Championship game in 2010 oh did I forget John Chiles and then went on to waste Gilbert Grape. MB threw away a National Championship in 2001 when he used Simms over Applewhite in the B12 Championship. See the common thread, evidently Applewhite hasn't. Because MB screwed him on the phoney CO-OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR title. (note: Applewhite will never learn, when MB dies in his will it will say screw Applewhite) There is a gap between the 2009 season with Colt McCoy and the upcoming 2012 season and MB still hasn't developed a starting QB. Ash is not ready. You all say Case is not ready. Whose fault is that? What, will MB waste the two new guy's redshirt and careers in another multiple freshman QB indecision year. In 2010 he should have gotten a Sophmore transfer to come and sit then start 2011 and 2012. Then one of these vaunted Freshmen would be ready for 2013. A real coach thinks ahead. So MB I think will retire in June 2012 that is why he screwed it up, that is as far as he thought. No head coach on the horizon, no QB, no luck... bummer horns. So please don't blame Case and no he isn't a spoiled entitled brat like Garret Gilbert, David Ash and the likes of Chris Sims and the prime example Adam James. Let him compete, oh yes he did and won but wasn't named starter. But let him compete again and let the chips fall where they may, winner take all. That means a starting QB that proves it to the coaches and players in the Spring and during preps prior to game 1 in 2012. Leave all of them alone till the week of the first game. See you all then, hook'em horns.

No doubt Mack is to blame for the lack of development and frankly the potential lack of recruiting at the qb position. I was not on the sidelines but the rumor had it that Case was not acting like a team player. If he did refuse to go back in the OU game when coaches asked him to then he should have been cut. Here is a valid question: Would Mack have recruited Case had he not had the last name McCoy? He was a 3 star qb tabbed as a "dual threat." About right, except for the "dual threat" attribute.

Personally I have nothing against Case and I agree that the buck stops with Mack. Next season should be interesting since Brewer is a Longhorn now too.

Not to regurgitate my previous post but Case always has a smile on his face when addressing the media. He gets along with his teammates and loves Texas. I understand rumor is rumor but when things are not going well the rumors unfortunately turn to a percieved reality. Like mentioned above, Case will have his shot at winning the job back. Playing quarterback at Texas is BIG TIME, as we all know!

Agreed wholeheartedly about the Simms - Applewhite fiasco. Major was the leader Chris could not be.

TexanRichard - thanks for posting! Appreciate your insight!

There has not been one credible source that states Case's refusal to go back in during the Oklahoma game. All message board rumor. Let him stay and compete for playing time! He has just as good a shot as anyone else!

I love Case and thought he got a raw deal with getting no PT in the Holiday Bowl but there must be something. Too many sources saying he was upset for it to be just made up. Not disagreeing with you on this particular game but there must be something.

Sorry but McCoy has been erratic just like David Ash. Mack owns the blame but these boys need to step their game up. Otherwise Jalen Overstreet or Connor Brewer will sneak in and steal it.

I am working on a piece on Jalen Overstreet..He just might be the real deal..Look in the front page write ups..

What?? Where?

Gotcha. I see. Nice writeup. Game changer?
Yea I would have had it up earlier but life got in the way:cool:

I just hope they can find a way to get the kid on the field. I'm thinking the Fozzy role in the Wildcat? What does UT call their Wildcat?
