Gilbert getting it together this year?

Man, I fully anticipate Harsin and Applewhite mixing it up enough to keep defenses busy (at least I HOPE) and making room for the run OR pass. This whole notion of Texas getting back to its bread and butter, "the running game," will not work in the least bit if our passing game is garbage. Cody Johnson was the leading rusher last year with 592 on the ground. The hodge-podge of backs we used last year did not work for us so I hope Fozzy and Malcolm Brown can tow the line for the duration of the season. Mack experiences another season like last year and there will be a mutiny in Austin. DAVID ASH FOR PRESIDENT!

Gilbert will be the guy, I am certain. After the scrimmage this evening evidently nobody stood out above the rest. The twitter chatter seems to think Gilbert will be the starter - as of today. I was hoping for Ash to get the "go," but we all may have deja vu on September 3rd when Gilbert takes the field. COnnor Wood suppoosedly did not even play and might transfer.

I DO NOT have a good feeling about this.

Sounds like you are correct for the most part. Shuttlesworth's article based on info from "The Asset" points to a good performance by Gilbert in last night's scrimmage (A Quarter with Kawika | Barking Carnival). Ash did not get too many snaps. Looks like GIlbert holds an edge in the qb battle for now.

Still open competition I am hearing. Ash is pushing the competition to a new level. He still has a chance to start. Either way, I can promise you a couple of qbs will be transferring after the season. Too many dogs wanting the same bone.
