Smith threw for 25 touchdowns in the regular season and threw for a whopping 6 td's in the Orange Bowl against Clemson last year. I think he might be the best quarterback in the big 12 over porn stache afficionado Landry Jones and underwear model Calvin Klein.

Thank the Good Lord we have Diggs and Byndom in the secondary. Our defense is taking no shit this year.

Geno? Is he Italian?

Some analysts have West Virginia winning the BIG12 largely because of Geno Smith and Tayvon Austin? I project Texas to win the West Virginia game because of our defense but these boys will be tough.

They will come in and be a team that makes every Big XII team nervous for a lot of reasons. Fluid offense and nobody has seen them play before. Sure there's film but a lot of unknowns. What division are they in??

Well first off he is not Italian, lol He is a black kid from Miami.

Our offensive line will be better this year (2nd under Coach Bedenbaugh) and we have some weapons at WR. Tavon Austin is one of the most gifted athletes in the country.

You can see all of Geno's highlight videos at the site I created, http://www.genosmith4heisman.com

Nice site bro. If West Virginia can play as well this year in the Big XII as they did last season then he certainly has a good shot at making the trip to New York. Beware of the Texas defense though.... Welcome to the boards too! Glad to have WVU representation!

Geno is legit. His biggest area of work needs to be keeping his emotions in check. He is dynamic with the ball and with that Holgerson offense, he is dialed in. As good as Smith is, he doesn't play defense and neither does WVU.

Dude is getting a ton of coverage by the media too.He threw for 4385 yards last season and was only behind Case Keenum, Brandon Weeden and Landry Jones in passing yards. West Virginia throws the ball a lot so I am wondering what the running game for the Mountaineers will look like.

So we dont play defense... How do you know this? We played a 3-3-5 the last 10 years or so. We are going to a whole new defensive scheme this year with coaches that are familiar with Big 12 offenses.

I know this because I watch and cover football. I know what I see and last year I didn't see a quality defense.

WVU better get used to perfecting the goal line defense. 'Cause that's where Texas will be most of the time! No in all seriousness Holgorsen is no dummy. He and his staff will be making adjustments and watching a ton of film. Can't wait for football season!

You saw a defensive scheme that has moved to Arizona. You dont know anything about our defense unless you watched our spring game. Anything you think you know about last years defense you can throw out the window.

One thing I do know, it's not always the scheme, it's the Jonny and the Joes that play on that defense. We shall see what lies ahead once the season starts.

Offense in the WVU Spring game had 600+ offensive yards. Really young defensive unit playing in a new scheme = huge learning curve. I wish you guys the best but I think the WVU defense is the greatest weakness on the team - particularly the secondary.

Here, I found some tape on the game:

And any Mountaineer making the trip to Austin this year - HornSports.com is buying the beer.

You are correct. Our defense will be the weakest part of our team. Cant take anything from that spring game as I believe we have 1 LB, 1 CB, and 1 safety (starters) that didnt even get to play due to injury.

I think our defense will be similar to OSU from last year. It will give up a whole lot of yards but make a bunch of big plays via turnovers, etc.

That's the Texas Tech mantra. High scorin' no defense. That will win you games against big boys every now and then but most of the time it ain't enough.
