Im pretty good with bringing in a kid that earned the title "Best Damn Player in the Whole Damn State!" These are the types of winners that I expect to see filling the role of Field General for our mighty LONGHORNS! IMHO... THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!!! Bring it Gentry!!!

His state isn't exactly a recruiting hot bed, but yeah that's neat for him. Hopefully gets a year to shirt and isn't hyped up too much.

Landry Jones came from NM.

Aaron Lewis worked out pretty well for us. NM kid.

I think Gentry is in the Ryan Mallett mold - tall, rangy QB with a cannon!

I don't expect him to make many plays with his legs - NM high school tape notwithstanding.

Watson recruited the PP he wanted for his system.  Im optimistic even though we probably wont see him for another year or two

Maybe he can be the "Best damn player" in this state as well before it is all done!

Can't wait to see what he can do in a few years.

While that is true of Swoopes, not so much with Heard. But I am excited about this kid.
Oh, I am in team Heard! I want that kid on the field asap. But with these two in the lineup I think we have a lot more promise at the QB position than we have had in a really long time!

All I know is that I feel the best I have since VY was here about out QB prospects. Unfortunately that is not saying much. The reason I say VY instead of Colt is because it seemed like all the guys behind him, that were worth a damn, left when they realized they were not going to beat him out.

I feel this staff want a lot of options.

My feelings on this kid is like a spoiled brat at Christmas. I want a new kid to come in and tear it up on the field. It's just unrealistic though, especially considering Watson refuses to play a true freshman QB. The focus will be on Heard and whether not he can adapt from the spread to the pro style offense the coaches are pushing. The impatience in me says screw It and run the spread and let heard play the offense he excelled at. But I'm just a spoiled fan so I will have to just give this time to play out

Yeah it is always hard to temper the passion to want these young men to come in and contribute.

Especially when you go from James Brown, Applewhite/Simms, VY, and Colt. Our QB situation since has been...

Zach has been told that he reminds the local folks of Jim Everett the former Purdue QB and Jim Rome wresting partner. Everett went to the same high school as Zach and led them to the state championship in 1980.

His HS coach thinks he will be better in college than HS, but he could benefit from a red shirt year and work on his weight training.
