The U.S. Dept of Education financial filings for the nation’s universities just became publicly available. The data is as of Aug 31, 2015 and covers the preceding 12 month period. (Sept 1, 2014-Aug 31, 2015)
Total enrollment at UT Austin (undergrad) for the 2015-2015 academic year declined slightly to 36,072 (from 36,597). Total participants in sanctioned sports declined to 562.
Total athletics revenues once again lead the nation, up a whopping $18 million to $179.5 million. Total expenses fell roughly $10 million to $152 million. Net profit to UT athletics was $26.7 million (this puts the reserve account close to $60 million). Total football revenues $121 million. It looks as if donations dropped slightly, but overall revenue more than made up for that decline.
aggy’s total enrollment continues to soar out of control with undergrad enrollment for 2015-2016 now at 42,017 (vs. 39,535 for the previous year). Their stadium expansion to 105,000 and the $6 million they received from SECN raised their total revenues to $110 million(from $90 million). Their total expenses soared to $102.7 million (from $87.2 million).
Phil Knight’s outsized donations to Oregon seem to have slacked off as they dropped by almost $90 million in revenue, back to total revenues of $83 million. As for other schools, Alabama - $150.6 million; Ohio State $170.9 million; Notre Dame $121.2 million.
