    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

He is not relevant to me. I think he is and always been a hack and a joke. Old school SEC, ESPN and Kirk Bohls think he is relevant. The only time I've ever watched or listen to his show is when Auburn beat Alabama on the Kick Six just to listen to Alabama fans cry. He is in the same league as...

Not sure. He mostly needs to keep talking to try to stay relevant. The fact that you guys are talking about him indicates he is staying relevant. Mostly what he says just seems like noise to be ignored.

IMHO, it's all a joke, unless they use some kind of objective methodology that they describe, before presenting the list. Even then, since preseason rankings are mostly a joke it's still mostly BS.

I guess anyone can put together a list of who has the toughest schedule for 2025. Here is another one, that doesn't even list Texas in the top 10. https://www.google.com/amp/s/247sports.com/longformarticle/ranking-college-footballs-toughest-schedules-in-2025-244778381/amp/

    The SEC thread

It's definitely going to make it very difficult on schools with less available money. To an extent, Sark can sell recruits on development and culture, but at the end of the day, if you want the top dogs, you need to give them a competitive compensation package.

    The SEC thread

Seems like Alabama is having a hard time keeping up with the arms race. Maybe this could be part of why Saban retired, and unless they can find some more money, will be a problem moving forward. "But for a department staring down a $28 million loss in 2023-24 and a $12 million hit the year...

    Nick Brooks

    Yes, back when it happened.

Not sure I care much what he says, but would prefer everyone picked someone else, the team doesn't need any extra rat poison.

    Nick Brooks

That happened back on April. If it really happened a 2nd time, then that would be way worse then having it happen once. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fox7austin.com/news/nick-brooks-texas-longhorns-football-arrest.amp

    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

https://www.on3.com/nil/news/greg-sankey-releases-statement-house-v-ncaa-settlement-approval-sec/ This part is news to me, and hopefully brings some order to the NIL chaos. "The settlement also imposes new restrictions on college sports. An NIL clearinghouse will be established, titled “NIL...

    Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

For better or worse,It's now official. Texas can now start paying players directly. "HB126 will allow colleges to directly pay athletes, putting Texas in line with the recent House v. NCAA settlement. It will also allow high school athletes age 17 or over to sign NIL deals, whereas only...

Mack vs Sark. Who is the better recruiter?

I agree that the portal and NIL make the job harder. But at the same time coaches are allowed to have bigger staffs to help them negotiate these new complexities. If a coach is up to the new challenges, then a place like Texas gives Sark some advantages over smaller budget schools that Mack...

Mack vs Sark. Who is the better recruiter?

Hopefully we will say the same thing about some future player(s). Hoping that it becomes an appropriate statement for Arch.

    The SEC thread

Another angle on this is that Nick Saban made a comment on the Pat McAfee Show Istating that Vanderbilt is the "only place in the SEC that's not hard to play", before Alabama lost. That likely gave Vanderbilt some extra motivation. Saben wasn't the coach at the time but I believe he was an...

Mack vs Sark. Who is the better recruiter?

Mack coached from 1998 to 2013, and won a natty in 2005. So neither coach won a national championship in there first 4 years at Texas. If NCs are your only metric, then you will need to wait until Sark is done, before the comparison makes sense.

    2026 Recruiting Board/Thread

It's definitely another dimension in the complex decision process that Sark needs to consider when making offers. The type of players Sark is hoping to attract are top athletes, who will be able to keep working hard on and off the football field, and not get derailed by all of the money. Lots...

    2026 Recruiting Board/Thread

NIL is already millions to certain high school kids, revenue sharing is more millions. Love it or hate it, it's the current reality of college football.

    The SEC thread

Probably won't matter, but it seems idiotic to give one of your opponents that type of extra motivation.

    2026 Recruiting Board/Thread

From Sark's comment that the 40 million roster reports were wrong, and he wishes he had another 15 million, implies a 25 million roster. 7 million over 3 years would be 9.33% of the current roster budget. With revenue sharing coming, that budget is going up, as is the roster size How much...

    The SEC thread

They have been put in an impossible position, squeezed by the courts from any type of rule making or enforcement. I'm not sure what college sports would look like without the NCAA, but we just might find out.
