Any time you make a coaching change you are always rolling the dice. This year the cost will be high, but the odds of success will be low. I wonder if this will make schools like Auburn,Wisconsin and Florida State consider giving their coaches another year.

GAME WEEK – Texas hosts Vanderbilt

I'm not a doctor, or pretending to know the situation, but it seems to me that he could be symptom free, but still be at at an elevated risk of another concussion. I assume the doctors have good insights into any risks, and will error on the side of safety.

GAME WEEK – Texas hosts Vanderbilt

It's good that he is going through the protocol quickly,. Hopefully they are super conservative with the decision process, definitely not worth rushing things. Caldwell sounds plenty capable, so if Arch isn't 1000% ready then Caldwell should start.

I guess this helps explain why Kelly's huge buyout didn't protect him. https://brobible.com/sports/article/private-louisiana-donor-brian-kelly/?fbclid=IwdGRjcANtm-1jbGNrA22bpmV4dG4DYWVtAjExAAEeETe3f_NgloKNOR1ToHYrFOkBWYc6TTwYeqlixJKbfADLndX_eaxrC60ZDf8_aem_tt4QlhrvXhz5IgF_4wIozA

Nah, Caldwell is a senior, while Arch is a redshirt sophomore. So no matter how well Caldwell plays, it's Arch's job when he's ready.

Not only was tenesee struggling at that point, but he had ties to usc (same ties as Sark i.e. 2 natties). It definitely wasn't a good look to leave after 1 year. Kiffin is significantly older now, and I suspect he is less inclined to make any crazy moves like that. But since he has been at Ole...

    Coaching carousel

Kiffin will make lots of money in the coming years if he stays or not, so I would be surprised if money is the determining factor. I would guess that if he accepts the Florida job, it will because he believes he has a better chance of winning a natty there. My guess is he stays, after Ole Miss...

    Coaching carousel

No matter what Kiffin does, he and Jimmy Sexton are going to make a bunch of money, as are all of the current coaches that are viewed as desirable. I guess it's capitalism. It seems to me that offset clauses (like what James Franklin had) and performance clauses should be the norm. Heck even...

I remember a few years back the view was that the academic standards make it a difficult place for recruiting. Not sure if that's still viewed as an issue.

The coaching carousel seems to be gaining momentum. So far Oklahoma State ,Arkansas , Penn State and Florida. Up next Florida State,Auburn Wisconsin, Maryland...? I don't have any insight into who these schools will hire, but Thought it would make a good thread.

*****GAME THREAD: No. 21 Texas versus Kentucky*****

Given how offensively the O was playing, and how good Mason Shipley is, IMHO Texas should have kicked the FG on their first play in OT. Thankfully it didn't matter.

    Non-SEC Football

Given that he made the semis last year, and that his buyout was 49 million, I'm surprised by the move. Seems like they could have at least waited until after the Ohio State game on November 1 to pull the trigger. I guess they decided his cieling wasn't natty level, and that's what they covet...

Playing Ohio State working against us

With the losses to Ohio State and Florida, Texas likely needs to win out to make the playoffs. Had Texas played a lesser opponent in week 1, they likely would make the playoffs with another loss. All the talk about not penalizing a team for playing a tougher schedule is just talk at this...

*****GAME THREAD: Texas versus No. 6 Oklahoma*****

He seemed to throw the ball well enough in terms of velocity etc. It seems to me that him not being able to practice for most off the last 3 weeks likely impacted his accuracy and timing.

*****GAME THREAD: Texas versus No. 6 Oklahoma*****

Him being cleared on Thursday , implies he only had 2 practices in the last 3 weeks. To claim that without the broken hand ou would have won is silly. It's also silly to say with any certainty that Texas would have still won had he not had the injury. What we do know is that the ou staff...

*****GAME THREAD: No. 9 Texas @Florida*****

I believe that f the defender rips off the helmet then it's a penalty, and the player can stay in the game, and no 10 second run off. I didn't see what caused Arch's helmet to come off, but no penalty was called.
