Sounding like Overstreet, Estelle, Harrison, and Daje all had strong spring semesters. Looks like academics are no longer a problem. Also, sounds like Bergeron finally has his act together and will be on the field in the Fall.

This all per OB and 247.
After reading the article on Strong, that doesn't surprise me. Students are coddled too much in our high schools today, and it's not the fault of teachers and schools, but parents combined with the State and the Feds. Students begin to feel bullet proof. Why study for a test when you are allowed to retest if you fail? Homework? No problem. If you don't pass an assignment, in some districts, you are allowed to correct it!
All of this gives an entirely different meaning to "failure is not an option", and it's leaving students entirely unprepared for college! Complete bullshit.

They think you are bs'ing when you tell them that in college, the grade they earn when they submit an assignment or exam stands. If you think teachers are fairly compensated, imagine grading many tests twice, as well as, tracking the time it takes to grade the first round, return the tests, then allowing the little darlings the requisite time to 'correct' them, then grading again! Students actually think school is more difficult now. They are in for such a rude awakening, and so are their parents.

It is a blessing when a parent says, 'my child will get the grade earned on the first assessment'. "I want him/her prepared for the next level."

Hook 'em! Only the best.

great news indeed!  "discipline" is just not necessarily a bad word.

My wife who is a high school teacher lives this everyday. .. I remember when I got my butt beaten with a paddle at school and when I got home I got a butt then too...

My Dad told the Principle to tear my ass up if needed and then to call him so he could do the same. Now  days parents say no way could little junior in any way possibly be at fault. Has to be the fault of some one else's kid. That is what the real problem is. Parents sue schools if little junior gets a whipping.

Daddy made us go outside and pick out a switch, but it had to be a good one. He also told the Principal the same thing, Doug. I behaved, and my brother did, too.

When kids know that parents support the school, their grades improve by leaps and bounds.

Hook 'em!

When I got my ass whipped and complained about not deserving it my dad said "well I'm sure you deserve it for something else."

My dad had quite a few belts. I had to pick the one I got spanked with. Never any fun waiting for dad to come home knowing you were going to get a whipping.
