David Ash's injury had me thinking of often injured/unlucky athletes who were unable to meet expectations due to injury.

To name a few:

Greg Oden - Poor dude

Grant Hill - constantly injured in NBA

Derek Rose - Has he already passed his prime 2 years ago?

Bo Jackson - career shortened

astros fans will remember JR Richard who was the most dominant pitcher in the game before suffering a stoke at the age of 30. never pitched again.

or dickie thon. mid-20s shortstop that could do it all. beaned in the head, messed up his vision and while he returned to the game, he was never the same.

edwin simmons...ut runing back mid-80s. physical freak before injuries derailed him.

Rosey leaks. Somehow cobbled out a nice nfl career after blowing out a knee in college prior to sr season. what might have been with a healthy leaks and earl in '74.

Leaks' injury was DKR's biggest mistake.

Priest Holmes saw his UT career hindered by injuries, but exploded in the NFL.  Apparently in high school he tore a quad tendon in a game, which is a very significant injury, but completed the game with tons of yardage!  Gotta love Priest!

Bo Scaife is a guy that can be added to the list although he got it straight and had a very fruitful NFL career.
