I've watched film breakdown after film breakdown of the last two weeks and they all seem to say the same thing, Sark's play calling has been solid. I'm not here to praise the almighty Sark or defend him, but I've seen multiple sessions that point to the problem being the QB 1st and OL 2nd. Sounds like the WRs running great routes and the calls had multiple layers of attack. As I've said before and I will say it again, the blame for losses always goes on the coach while the praise for wins goes to the players. With that said, I don't think Sark can dial or dumb down the offense anymore.

This is a good one to check out:

Very interesting video.

There is still a question as to why our QBs seem to grossly underperform in this offense. This is two QBs in a row that have come in here being touted as, perhaps, the best HS QB in the nation.... Quinn was one of the highest ranked QBs ever - up there with Trevor Lawrence and Vince Young. Card was a very good prospect as well.

I would also point out that this is two years in a row where our OL is prohibitively bad. It's pretty hard to dial up any play on 4th and 1 or 2 when people pour through the middle of the line unmolested! Even if you say that Arch holds onto the ball too long, this OL play is unacceptable. In any case, it comes back to the coach eventually.... doesn't it?

I think the best offense going (in college) is what people are running from the "Briles tree." We ran it one year with Sterlen Gilbert.

I'm curious what exactly you mean by the "West Coast Offense." When I hear "West Coast Offense" what comes to my mind is what Bill Walsh is credited for innovating. Short passes almost like "pass-runs" that get RBs or WRs the ball quickly in space. Not what would be called "physical" at all.... you're not lining up and running over people, so a smaller OL that can pull, and get to the outside are actually preferred. If this is what you mean, I don't see that we're running it (or trying to run it) at all.

Now I'll shut up and let you respond....
The Westcoast offense is exactly what you are referring to that Bill Walsh designed. USC in the 2000s proved that it can be run in the college game, part of what an effective offense should be doing is sustaining drives, you can have a high flying offense that scores quickly, the problem with that is you leave the defense on the field (ie. Lincoln Riley); I think Art Briles system was/is a great offensive scheme but it is not one that is effective at clock control, the modern Westcoast offense allows for sustainable drives, but you have to have a very intelligent QB to run it, I'm not sure if Arch's football iq is there, at least not now. Sark doesn't run a pure Westcoast offense, it is a modern take/flare of it, but fundamentally he developed his offense from it, we have so many play makers that can gain extra yards in space, we should use that to our advantage, right now we're either going extremely short or extremely long in our passing game, were missing the intermediate routes
